What "triggered" your interest in jockstraps?

I'm wondering what actually "triggered" our interest in jockstraps. For me it was the fact that, in my mid-teens, I had my first "crush" -- my high-school football coach. I found him very attractive, but it wasn't until the first time I saw him in a jockstrap that I finally understood, deep down, that my attraction to him was sexual in nature. But when he was growing up, he had been on swim teams that practiced in the nude. So it somewhat surprised me how modest men of his age were that when they were swimming in suits in mixed company they wore supporters under modest boxer style trunks. I still remember going to the local pool and changing in the locker room.
