For some guys, wearing a jock was mandatory in PE. How did you PE teacher check if you were wearing a jock? We had to drop our shorts to show we were wearing a jock. For the unfortunate who we’re just wearing underwear, they had to finish off the class that day in just underwear.

.....yeah buddy!...I think it would be *awesome* if you`d start a thread about *coaches and JOCKSTRAP checks*...we never had them where I went to school...not surprising to me...because, it was just an automatically *conditioned* thing to...go into the gym locker-room, undress, pull on your jockstrap, shorts and tee-shirt...no-one wanted to get hit or kicked in the nuts and end up with a serious hernia!...putting on a jockstrap was just something we did for our own protection...automatically...without any second-thoughts...*gym-class* was the easiest class ever...if you participated

I had only 2 years of HS PE. No jock check. But, there was a guy that changed next to me. I had no idea a cock could look that big and that beautiful. He was definitely a shower. That image will be with me forever.
In the 8th grade I was on the football team. Only to get a letter E to put on a letterman's sweater. I was pretty insecure and I was the shortest boy in the 8th grade. I wasn't much bigger than the football. Lol
I was required to wear a jock. I never heard of of one before. My mother sent me to JC Penneys to buy one with no explanation. I was so embarrassed that I hung around the section where there were forever, before grabbing one and paying for it. Sweating blood. Lol
As you can see, over time (60 years ago), I have completely embraced the wearing of jocks.

They definitely are. Hell, when I was in high school, most boys didn't wear jockstraps. Pretty much just the athletes. Same with showers.
Luckily I was in sports, so I got to experience some more of the rowdyness of nude teen boys together. I look back on those memories fondly, and not just because I wanted to swallow every one of them.
Even running around nude during a towel fight was great.

The photos earlier in this thread with PE students presenting leg straps for jock inspection were from the 1985 movie "Just one of the guys". Although it was a comedy production, it demonstrates that the script writer remembered something of a similar experience during his school PE days. Such jock check experiences have found their way into many writings. Here is one from a newspaper article published in 2021.

Ours were white not beige like some of the earlier times. So, there wasn't much left to the imagination what you were wearing underneath. This was especially true when it came to our football uniforms. Depending on if it was a home game or away our uniforms were either white or purple. The white showed everything. But no one seemed to notice. Or more likely just never brought it up. It was what everyone wore from bench wormers to star players. I loved the games when we wore white. I got an exhibitionist rush knowing how visible my jockstrap was. This has carried over to this day.

In high school our football pants were white and most guy wore just a jockstrap some would wear briefs over their jock but let's face it the straps still went out of the jockeys. I am sure our leg straps showed but so did the NFL player's strap lines in Thursday night and Sunday afternoon football. Asses exposed in the locker room, strap bulge comparisons were not uncommon, and everyone talked about the majorly hung dude in the locker room. We had open showers after all and everyone say everything. Who the heck cares. When on the BB team I heard the girls talk about what player must be really hung. They did not realize the guys were wearing cups. Athletics included jockstrap and cups. It has become our shy and overly me 2 movement and moms who think jockstraps are disgusting that has killed the right for men to be men in a locker room and on the field. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wonder if that's where the phrase "He's a strapping young man" came from? It usually referred to a strong, fit athletic type guy.

That is great as most men wouldn't man up and wear one when they are in the minority or worse the only one to dress out in a jockstrap at the gym/school locker room/etc. Guys now days act ashamed to be seen changing into one. No one is going to know if you like jocks like that or you are just practical or old fashioned when choosing your support garment for athletics/exercise. That is if you change into an athletic jock and not a rainbow fashion one. Then you are pretty much advertising your thoughts. LOL The closest I came to being laughed at was from a friend that was in his 20s. He's not the roommate I wrote about in another thread but another youngster. He saw my gym bag in the back seat of my car. It was slightly opened and was showing some of my gym clothes that was on top. He saw my bike jock's 3-inch white stipe waistband and he pointed at it and chuckled saying something like your jockstrap or something like that. That was as far as it went. What I found interesting was he knew exactly what it was just seeing a small portion of the waistband. He later mentioned that he was having sore testicles from his gym workouts and bike riding. I tried to get him to try a jock, but he just chuckled again. He never said no, but never tried one either. He was definitely a guy that worried about his image to people. He would be embarrassed and worried about being laughed at. Jocks are just not cool in his and a lot of young people's minds. He would wear boxers, and I do not mean boxer briefs to the gym and to ride his mountain bike. Boxers! What a bonehead.

I definitely agree with what you said. It’s a shame that almost no one wears it, but I am one of the younger people who is keeping the jockstrap alive for the new generations.

I went to an all boys reform boarding school focused on discipline for “disobedient” boys. For PE we would have to line up in the auditorium before class started and pull our PE shorts down past the waste band so you could see the top of our bare asses. Like someone above said, if we were caught wearing briefs, we would be made to suffer through the class wearing only our briefs. In addition, after class (typically after we showered) (either in the coach’s office or later in our dorm room), we would be made to bend over naked while we were spanked/whipped with a belt.

Same. The ironic part is that these 25 some years after high school I found out that the PE teacher is gay/closeted. He sent a friend request recently to me on FB but I declined it.

I couldn’t stand him in HS, plus he put me on blast in front of the entire basketballteam, I was probably only 16 at the time and he yelled at me and said “I will be the only one on this team to have a mustache”. I didn’t have a mustache but it was baby hair’s basically.

Jock checks varied widely depending on the teacher. My junior high teacher had us pull our jock waistband out, which let him see if we were cheating and just putting it on over briefs. He checked 2 or 3 times the first week of school each year, but only occasionally after that. Some of the HS gym teachers had you pull a leg strap, some had you pull your shorts down far enough to show the waistband of your jock underneath. One of my freshman year teachers checked twice a week, one teacher senior year only checked a couple of times a semester. One teacher had his senior assistant (always a varsity athlete) check us off before we came out of the locker room. He basically watched us dress as he dressed alongside us. Almost all our lockers were in the same row.

I liked wearing my jock, and I certainly didn't want to go back to class in sweaty briefs, so I was fine having to show it off.

Ours was the same, drop trou. And show your jock. I think with us, the non jock guys had to stand by the bleachers and not participate. But maybe they had to do more, some would like to skip gym.

I had 2 years straight, 10th and 11th, signed up for foorball, but since dad took his vacation the last week in August and first in Sept. Depending on where Labor Day fell that year. I missed the first 3 weeks of practice. The coach told me I wouldn't qualify to play until half way through the season. I was okay with it, but he suggested I go out for the Manager. I can pass out the play books, check on the players equipment etc. I said okay, but when I told dad, he said no way. He said you will be made to pick up their dirty old jocks. They would be making fun of you. So I told the coach no. I to myself was okay with it. I was blowing guys by then and figured i'd be hanging with the guys, one of the gang, see them naked, and probably blowing a few too.

It's been more than five decades but as I recall, we had to show the waistband of our athletic supporters to the coach on occasion. We were all furnished with the same unbleached cotton Champion Atlas jockstraps and gym shorts for freshman PE. PE was mandatory only that first year. I later used that scrotum sling as a masturbatory accessory, abusing and raunching it to death. I buried the poor thing deep in the backyard for fear that it might be discovered in the regular household trash. Receiving that good old Atlas was the beginning of what would become a major sexual fetish for the unique item of protective male under gear.

I think at the time, if I had to show a waistband or a strap, I would have probably boned up. I couldn't imagine, say, having to parade into or out of the locker room in just a jockstrap, while the coach took active attendance, with compliance as an incidental check. makes me wonder who HAS had to show their full jock as a check in gym or for whatever sport.
