Nothing goes to plan.

I was supposed to have a week of programming the new website and a photo shoot with a new model tomorrow. Well, scrap all that.

On Monday morning, I ended up with another internal bleed thanks to my chemo, low platelets and blood thinners. Third in six months. So I took myself to the Emergency department of my regular hospital and checked myself in. Even though the bleed stopped by mid-day, they kept my in for testing. Thought I was going to get out Tuesday but the doctors decided it's best to stay in and get my test done now instead of getting them done as an outpatient.

I had a CT scan on Tuesday and they're pretty sure they know what's going on (too long and complicated to explain here) so I'm set for a scope up my stoma and one down my esophagus tomorrow. If it is what they suspect then they should be able to do something to help during the scope. I also think they're finally going to get me off the damn blood thinners I'm on and they're not helping plus the CT Scan showed my clot is mostly dissolved anyway. My thrombosis Dr. was intending to have me on blood thinners for eternity but my other doctors seem to be questioning it.

Anyway...

I feel fine and bored out of my tree. But at least tonight, Adrian brought me my laptop so I was able to hack together a sale for Jockstrap Central and schedule a newsletter to go out tomorrow (15% off store wide with discount code TAKEITOFF ). That's the problem with being a small business - if I'm out of commission, we can't launch products or promotions or promote the website. And the business suffers. It's so frustrating being stuck in a hospital and being unable to work.

On a positive note, the scope shouldn't be a big deal and I could be out tomorrow evening but knowing that nothing happens fast in the hospital, I'm betting on a Friday release.

Will keep you posted,

John

I am so sorry to hear all of this... I know your continuous work is needed for the financial stability, but there is a time to just take care of yourself. I would hope people in the market for your fine products would rather pay 15% more than have you stress yourself out while your deathly ill. I enjoy it here so much. Thank you for all your hard work. There's not another site like this! You've been innovative and are very talented. Hopefully you get the rest you need. Thanks again for everything,

Kind regards,
Autobear.

Sorry to hear all this John. Ironically, my partner, Todd, asked me this morning how you were doing and I told him I hadn’t heard in a While. I’ll give him this update though.

Btw...this 15% off sale ends in October? Typo?
Thanks for the kind words and heads up. Got home last night and “quickly” changed out the Hompage graphic using an old graphic as a template which had the old date as October and didn’t catch it as all I wanted to do is chill out on the couch and watch tv after 5 days in hospital.

Hey John,

I don't know your history or anything, and I'm more of a lurker than a poster here, but as a longtime sufferer with Crohn's disease I can probably imagine a little of your situation. Look after yourself. Thanks for giving us a space to share our love of jockstraps. I hope the doctors are able to give you what you need.

I'd like to post more pics of myself, but tbh my body confidence isn't quite there at the moment. But I'm working on it. I really enjoy looking at my fellow men all jocked up here.
Look at my gut. I'm working on it.

I’m sure you have nothing to worry about. Your profile pic rocks, and everyone here is welcoming. I no longer have a 6 pk - more of a keg guy now; but no one has ever said anything unwelcoming To me And I have posted over 1000 pics here.

I'm fine. Thanks for all the kind messages.

A brief outcome of my week in hospital:

I went into hospital on Monday with an internal bleed (third in six months). It's easy to dianose with an ileostomy as the "output" (Adrian and I jokingly call boop) had red in it. The bleeding stopped by the same afternoon but the doctors kept me in for testing and scans. They could have released me but it would have taken weeks to get all the scans done as an outpatient. So I had a CT Scan on Tuesday and two scopes (intestine and esophagus) on Thursday.

They determined the bleed was caused by inflammation thanks to the chemo which bled thanks to my low platelets and blood thinners I'm on. So they've put me on Pantaprozole which should help against future bleeds.

The frustrating thing was I was feeling fine all week so having to stay in hospital the whole time was beyond frustrating, I couldn't work and I was bored out of my tree.

Anyway, I'm back. Trying to rearrange that photo shoot and head back in for chemo on Tuesday.

Cheers guys,

John.
