Break-in Period?

My inventory is increasing and everything is new. I have some questions based on your experiences.

-New jocks out of the packaging are somewhat stiff and scratchy in places. Do you just wear into them, or loosen them up with hot water and let them air dry?
-If the size is a bit small, can the material be expanded?
-Will they eventually conform to your body like a pair of unwashed Levi jeans? If so is there a way to speed up this process?

Thanks in advance. I see a lot of advice on care, but not to break in.

as far smaller size washing may help

In textiles and paper production, sizing is applied so as to form a solid, continuous surface film, imparting such characteristics as smoothness, stiffness, weight, and lustre. Yarn acquires strength and abrasion resistance from sizing. Common sizing substances are starch, wax, gelatin, oil, and certain polymers.

Some jock pouch fabrics are treated with sizing to keep them firm while being sewn together. Like singlet wrestler mentions, you need to wash the McDavid's before wearing or you will not like them. It's a similar thing for some of the other brands as well. Anything with a cotton blend pouch can be worn out of the package.

Take it out of the package and put it on for the day. I'll admit that I try out new brands on days when I'm staying home. If it becomes uncomfortable, then I can easily change jocks. I can't remember ever having a problem though.

.....Hey there Mick, is the *waistband too snug?...you may want to return or exchange it...because, as time goes on, every-time it gets washed, it will shrink a bit-more!...if it`s *brand-new*, to make it look "not-so-new-and bright-white", just soak it in some black-coffee (or black-tea) for a couple of days (you can just use a large jar, or a large bowl) and, make sure it`s VERY-HOT!...THAT will not only tone-down the "bright-whiteness", but, should make it look more "aged* and not so "brand-new", and it shouldn`t be scratchy!...also, if you have metal kitchen-chairs, then, you can just slip-it over the back of one of those to dry awhile (after wringing-it-out as good as you can, so it`s not still-dripping first).....then, let it dry about maybe a day...and, it should be softer, not-at-all-scratchy, and even look NOT-brand-new!...oh, and to get rid of the coffee or tea smell, just rinse it in icy-cold water (maybe-even put-it-in-your-freezer-awhile...to help retain (lock-in) the color from the coffee and/or black-tea)...it should both look, and feel much-better after it dries completely!...have-fun!...and good-luck in getting the kind of results you want with that jockstrap!...would you "do-me-a-favor*...and take some photo`s of that jockstrap *before*, during?... and especially *after* that process?...I`d sure appreciate if you would let-me-know (with-photo`s) how that turns out!...Thanks!, buddy!...wishing-you *great-success!*......JAKE > NOTE: in answer to your other question...YES!...in-time, and after MUCH-frequent-use, it should start *conforming to "your cock-and balls" as the pouch-fabric relaxes from "frequent, elongated-usage times!...and, if you "sweat" a LOT, that will help it to conform to your man-meat even-better!...take photo`s to confirm if I am right!.....OH!, and...Mick, whenever you wish to wash that jockstrap, just *wear-it* into a *luke-warm*, NOT-HOT shower...and dry-it naturally (chair-back, or hang- outside or on the shower-curtain-rod on a wide plastic hanger, until-dry.......JAKE

Wow! What I thought might be an easy question has a lot of different answers! I’ve been wearing them as new just to try them out And get the feel. I think I’ll have to see what they’re made of and how best to whip them into shape.

What I’ve found most surprising is how comfortable jocks are. I don’t feel the pouch or any fabric in the ball pit even after a day’s wear. I don’t mind the straps trying to get my attention. It reminds me that I’m wearing one, and makes me stand and walk better.

Because of this site I wander around life now wondering who else is jocked up along with me!

im not sure I’ll do the tea routine. I like the white as is. Thanks for all the advice guys. Jocktober has been a great experience so far!
