All the same?

The recent surge in manufacturers making athletic jockstraps has been nice to see, but… how many manufacturers are truly making their own?

I was looking at some recent 3” waistband purchases from a few different brands and noticed they have the same waistband. The same stitching. The same shape.

AussieBum, Cell Block 13, and Jockmail… just different labels and different prices.

For the record I like all three. Yet I can’t help but feel it isn’t very transparent of the brands to simply put their label on goods all coming from a same, single source.

There are a few different Chinese manufacturers making all the copycat jocks but they're all buying the elastics and fabrics from the same textile companies. The textile companies are generally the ones deciding on what colors they're going to offer them in. The difference between brands will generally be based on how the manufacturer decides to construct the jocks (i.e. how much contouring in the pouch or how much length to use for each size in waistband elastic).

Occasionally, some of the jocks that I purchased for myself didn't fit me very well, but I've always been able to find a friend or neighbor who happened to be correctly sized for it. (As an added bonus for me, I usually suggest that they try it on in front of me so that I can "see" how it fits on them.)
