I know people seem to have gotten prude lately. Guys are afraid to drop their pants in front of other guys.
But for those of you who go to the sauna, what is everyone wearing?

I was finally able to go to the gym for the first time in months (work schedule got in the way), and they've gotten the sauna working. Awesome. Except... Everyone using it is fully clothed. I'm talking shorts, shirts, socks and shoes. And I mean EVERYONE. Not even a shirtless guy.

Is this the norm anymore? I knew guys stopped showering, and then stopped changing, but are we really at the point of fully clothed saunas?

The first few times I used the sauna I wrapped a towel around my waist and another around my shoulders to help sop up the sweat. Most guys would enter either wearing or carrying a towel and spread it on the bench before sitting on it naked. Once in a great while I wear a jock in the sauna but most of the time I'm naked. I have seen guys fresh from the pool wearing bathing suits and others in shorts and tank tops or full t-shirts.
I love the sauna!

Shoes??? in a sauna?? what is wrong with these people??? Isn't it understood, the less clothing the better? not even from a sexual point, just a health point???

In the UK, a sauna can mean a 'gay sauna' (bathhouse in US?). In these, a lot of men wear towels and being and walking around naked can often be the exception to the rule which I find bizarre, especially when most have gone there to have sex. If some action does break out, maybe the towels do get dropped.
In standard saunas at sports facilities, they're usually mixed. even in single-sex saunas, it would be rare for a man to be naked and would often arouse suspicion. There are few exceptions to this.
On the continent (Europe) if they're single sex, it's often the norm to be naked. In some countries even mixed saunas are naked (Germany, Austria etc). Wearing clothes is kinda frowned upon - it's seen as unhygienic and counterintuitive to your whole body sweating. A towel is used for sitting on.
I find the UK style, plain silly. Those uptight Victorians have a lot to answer for. I love baring all either in a sexual or nonsexual way.
As for shoes!!! Flipflops yes, shoes no.

Totally agree with you, eccome, with the exception that a towel can create a pleasurable fantasy, particularly if there’s an obvious bulge starting to form…😋
However, a (very) few gay saunas do have themed days: no towels; underwear including jockstraps; fetish wear, trans (not for me) etc. These themed sessions are borrowed from the mainly London based gay pubs/bars/clubs which are sadly fast disappearing, although Boltz in Birmingham is still going strong. Clubs etc. insist on footwear due to the possibility of broken glass on the floor while a few gay saunas hand out flip flops which prevent you stepping on unmentionable substances on the floor particularly in the dark rooms.
While I like fresh cum on me, cold cum on a hard floor, particularly if there’s a lot of it, isn’t pleasurable to step on!

I'd love it if it was the norm for men to be naked in the men's sauna at the gym, but I've never seen any man in our gym sauna going naked. I'm not sure if it's there's a rule against being men being naked in there, but my guess is that it's probably not permitted. I've noticed that some men just wear a towel wrapped around their waist, others wear swimming briefs or other types of swimwear. I've also never seen any man wearing just a jockstrap in there, either.

I don't use that sauna very often, but when I do I'm usually wearing one of my swimming briefs, and I always bring a towel along with me also. If the other men were all naked in there, I'd probably go in the sauna a lot more often! ;) (And I would join them in being naked.)

Well, I'm not sure if I would always be able to control myself from getting a boner, so it would probably have to be not frowned upon if any any of the guys would happen to become aroused. In any case, it should just be accepted that some men are gay, and that we have equal rights!

I used the sauna daily. Most guys at my gym wear c shorts, or underwear shorts a bit shorter. There are guys fully dressed with shoes. One old guy is naked, but wrapped in a towel. I am either naked in a towel, or more often a jock with a towel wrapped around. I like to lay on one of the side benches and allow my towel to kind of slide to one side just a bit so either a butt strap or my pouch becomes visible. If I am sitting up straight, I let the towel open a bit so my jock's waste band shows.

Again with guys wearing shoes...in the sauna. I just don't get it. Isn't that just not sanitary? Or am I thinking of the wrong style of shoes. Flip flop/thongs/shower shoes? Ok maybe. Or something more substantial like athletic shoes that were worn in the workout room?

My gym has a sauna in the men's locker room area, along with a whirlpool. All guys. I would say about 2/3 are naked in the sauna, sitting on a towel, or even laying down flat on their backs naked. The other 1/3 wear a towel. And yes, those who wear a towel all the time are mostly younger guys. But I noticed that they're not too obsessive about keeping the goods covered up completely. We have 2 levels of benches in our sauna, I always sit on the lower one. ;-p

Sometimes I go naked. Sometimes if I’m feeling sweet I’ll wear a jockstrap. Sometimes there is a towel involved. I don’t think anyone else in there goes in naked. Some are fully clothed lol. Don’t understand that. But either way. I figure that’s their issue. It’s a men’s sauna.
