As I recall, the fancy Bradley tunnel shower set up included a wall dispenser where you grabbed soap solution . I don't remember the location of the base, but there is a story in another forum describing a tunnel shower on an Army base which was attached to 4 basic-training barracks. The writer described an alcove about mid-length where a soldier would be stationed tasked with using something like a Hudson garden sprayer to squirt green liquid soap on the already wet recruits as they marched through the shower. Must have made good conversation for "the "What did you do in the war, daddy" question

Aww that explains a lot. I always leave the shower curtain open. Not because I was looking for some fun, but because I think this hyper-puritan, ashamed of their body, towel dancing bullshit gen-z does is ridiculous. Definitely similar experiences for me as well. Just being in jock or nude in front of teammates was fun. No sexual activities but just washing body and soaping my ass in front of them was fun.
