I grew up in middle school world…grades 6-8, so 6th grade was the change for gym and shower after, but no mention of wearing a jock. I barely remember much from that time. My dad was athletic so I think I was around jocked or naked guys in locker rooms before then. It’s just the way it was. Also our middle school had the district‘s swimming pool so we started swim lessons in 6th grade. We had to shower first and wear dark blue nylon Speedos.
