Younger Generation Wearing Jocks?

I've realized that there seems to be an age gap among guys who wear jocks. I know a while ago jockstraps were a very normal thing and practically everyone wore them to work out and whatnot. However, I am a college student and I almost never see guys wearing jocks in the locker room which makes me self-conscious whenever I'm wearing one. It also seems like a lot of people in this forum are from that time period when wearing jocks was normal. Are there any other younger people in this forum who feel the same way or like jocks as much as I do?

This seems to be an important distinction. Gear technology changed, so what athletes use may be different. Lots of young gay guys in NYC wear jocks—but it's more of a fashion/fetish thing than practical.

Well, call it «Gear Technology» if you must but basically the so-called «Compression Shorts» I've encountered were only a few steps away from medieval torture implements. «New & Improved» is a worn-out advertising gimmick that some people fall for simply because (as they think — or DON'T THINK) «everyone [sic.] is doing it. As a Navy bud of mine often opined «You can't fix stupid, even with duct-tape», and you can't fix mindless fad-following even when it's sticking like duct-tape, dripping in sweat, and crushing balls!

I came late into life wearing a jock on the daily. So here goes. I’ve worn boxer briefs, briefs, and other types of underwear. They have each had their positives and negatives, but.. Imma channel Scarlet O’Hara….As God as my witness nothing has ever been as comfortable as a jockstrap. Happy 150! That’s it. I’m out. my jock frat bros 🥹

It would be great if more of us older guys would help the younger guys get over the stigma of wearing jocks and show them the ropes. It was my buddies older brother and their father that taught us the value of the jockstrap.

That’s so awesome, man. Being 31, I would’ve loved that kinda bonding and coaching. I learned to be the jock I am cuz I admire how older guys would be so confident and hunky in jocks. Trust me, you would change some lives and help boys become men.

Amen brother! As a lifelong runner, I can honestly tell you I would be physically unable to run if I weren’t wearing a jockstrap. I’d be in the ER no question.

18 here and still in high school. I’ve worn a jock on multiple occasions but never had the courage to talk about it. Whenever someone asks me what type of underwear do you wear I wanna say jock straps but I feel like that could out me.

For me it depends on the situation. If it’s out and about, I’d tell them I wear briefs. If I’m at the gym, I’ll tell them I normally wear briefs, but I’m wearing a jockstrap for the extra support for the boys.

I also just don’t care who knows what anymore though lol

Well, unfortunately, despite the generally better situation of latter generations, there's still a lingering cadre of Neanderthal-brains who are homophobic and so as much as I'd like to see JOCKSTRAPS »«out and proud» discretion is somtimes still the better part of valour.
What annoys me is the silly trope that jockstraps = gay. THAT is a piece of despicable disinformation promoted by commercial media to up the sales of overpriced Lycra Logowear to the gullible Great Unwashed. I've rarely been asked, but my response was and always will be «A JOCK». I've yet to be derided or attacked, but more than a few times it opened up a conversation about balls discomfort (particularly as we age and things tend to droop) but at any rate only an easily identified «spoiler» would ask that question in order to cause embarrassment, and my ripost to him would be: «well what are YOU wearing — shall we have a show and tell»! (And it wouldn't be the first time that I'd dropped my jeans and exposed my jock!)

Older guy here! Never understood why the jockstrap became an issue. While some fit better than others they were not that expensive to get the right fit. Compression shorts suck since they do not have the room for the junk. A jockstrap does expose your ass but in a locker room all hangs out. A jockstrap offers support for you stuff and the right one does not feel like you are even wearing one. Even if it is digging in your ass muscle. Jockie shorts are a breeding ground for Jock itch. Boxer-briefs do not offer much support after minutes. A good fitting jockstrap is all you need and is something you appreciate. Besides it lets you feel almost comando.
