Jockstrap Fan
I took a drive up to my home town yesterday and I stopped at a small sporting good store in the neighboring town where we used to get most of my gear when I was in school. They always sold Duke jocks and cups when I was in school. I was walking around the store when an employee asked me if I needed help finding something. I told him I was just stopping by for old times sake and while we were talking I found that he graduated 2 years after I did and that we played baseball and basketball against each other. He went on to play a year of baseball for a nearby community college. While we were talking and walking around I walked to the jockstrap section and saw a wall of Safetgard jockstraps and Safetgard cups with jockstraps- not a compression short in sight. I commented "wow jockstraps, you don't see them as much these days." He said yea I never liked compression shorts. He said that he always wore a jockstrap and when he got to college a few guys gave him crap so he went and got a pair of compression shorts. He said he wore them twice and threw them away. Said he actually got most of the team to try jockstraps that wore compression shorts and a lot of them switched to wearing a jock instead. He said he won't ever stock compression shorts if has his way.
Very awesome to hear jockstraps are still being pushed as the main choice in that small corner of the world.
