I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer last year (I think I disproved that frequent ejaculation reduces the risk of PC - at least in my case). I recently had robotic laparoscopic surgery and am recovering at the moment.

I just wanted to put in a couple of links and offer that anyone who is affected or concerned is welcome to get in touch:
https://pcpep.org - currently in New Zealand and Canada - a great program to empower patients.
https://prostatecanada.ca - for those in Canada like me
https://www.pcf.org - US based

I had zero symptoms and it was detected by routine PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) testing - so get yourself and the people you love tested - particularly if any family history of prostate or breast cancer.

Good luck with your treatment.
I’ve been lucky with my diagnosis in that my enlarged prostate is benign. Howeve, I agree totally with you: get yourselves tested, guys.
While it is true that more men die with prostate cancer than because of it, the earlier it’s diagnosed the better the outcome.

My PSA levels have been up and down for years. Mostly up and my prostate has been enlarged for a huge portion of those years. Like Shortguy, i never thought I would have any issues because I used (or abused) that part of my body through many solo efforts. I also drank tons of water to keep my body hydrated.

I started having problems when I went through a period of nearly a year when I lost interest in my solo efforts. I had a roommate that was a nurse and he told me it was a," Use it, of lose it," kind of thing. After getting my prostate checked and going through medication after medication things settled down for a while. I still have issues with a swollen prostate that make me feel like I have a golf ball between my cheeks all the time, but nothing like Shortguy or others have to deal with.

I guess what I want to say is that I feel for all the guys that have to suffer with this issue and I want them to know they are not alone. I also want to encourage any of you guys out there that to have your prostate checked as often as your doctor recommends, especially after 40. It could save your life.

Thanks for sharing guys - shows we need to take these things seriously. Interesting that some of you had symptoms but things turned out benign.

So if you are worried it may be cancer - get it checked anyway as it could be something else completely. In any case early detection and treatment usually have the best outcomes in health problems.

As I said I had no symptoms - so thank goodness I was having my PSA monitored.

I am recovering well from surgery and hopefully will not need any further treatment.

Glad to hear you are recovering well from surgery. My Bfs ex— is going through Prostate Cancer right now.
