Need help identifying: is this a pair of vintage Bike jockstrap?

I just got this from someone at a very low price. Is this a vintage pair of bike?

This is the way they were sold in the U.S. There is a Kohl's department store tag on this one. Every two weeks they run an ad for BIKE jockstraps in their weekly flyer. It was the highlight of the Sunday newspaper.

The vintage Bike in the bag is how they were packaged for bulk purchasers, such as schools. The number of stripes indicated the size. One strip, small. 2 stripes medium, .....

From the past auctions on ebay, they used to come just folded nicely in the box. The clothing store in town sold them individually out of a box like this.

Definitely a vintage Bike jockstrap but I never consider a jockstrap a pair. I know we wears pairs or pants and pairs of underwear but I’ve always considered jocks to be singular. Maybe it’s because pants and underwear have a pair of legs and jocks don’t.

Pair comes from the source of pants — two separate legs. (Though the word pants comes from the name of an Italian folk character Pantalone, whose characteristic was that he wore ankle-length pants instead of the then-standard knee-length pants for men.) Pants, like glasses (when meaning eye glasses) evolved as terms know as plurale tantum nouns — nouns that only have a plural form (for the particular meaning). Pair of underwear? Ya got me on that one. But I’m with PK — never a pair of jockstraps . . . at least not unless we’ve picked up two horny bitches at CrossFit who both wear jockstraps!
