And don't forget the jock pretzels once you tried to roll that jock off of you in the locker room. Seems like every BIKE 10 I had with the red tracer lines did that. It took some effort to get it flat again, hung to dry and back on for PE class. That waistband riding up was an easy target for a jock wedgie when playing shirts and skins teams in high school.

LOL! I had a couple of the red stripped ones but when I got them they were all three stripped with different colored tags for the sizes. Small (yellow), Med (blue), Large (red). I also had the pretzel issue with the blue/grey stripped #10's. Not to mention after a few washings the ribbing in the pouch always started to pop out.

When Bike made the #10 in colors I bought the grey and the blue. The yellow did nothing for me and I thought the red was too flashy for the locker room. I was in mid workout and I felt like I was literally free balling. I went into the locker room reaching into my shorts and and felt all material. I always had several jocks in my bag since I had experienced JOCKSTRAP FAILUERE before. That is where the leg straps suddenly snap free from the pouch. I took off that jock....looked at it....all of the pouch ribbing support let go. It was like a flag in the wind and I put on a traditional #10 and went back out. While Jockstrap failure gave a snap to the nuts I would have preferred that since I new what happened instead of a total loss of support.

Ive never had jockstrap failure, swimming, have had it in baseball a couple times. There is a feeling of God, now what. It's kinda freaky, this is all crumbling.

They were all sorted out by the stripes, so the could be thrown into the right bins. There was a purpose to it.

This whole swimjock idea, basically 1 inch waistband, and generally legstraps that were not a lot smaller. Well, for whaaat exactly? Somebody gonna hit me in the nuts with a ball?

This one wierd thing, I agree with. Who the heck would want that. I really am not sure how much they help, but anything. And I reckon you can't fit a cup into Speedos.

Some of us are larger than others in the penis dept. AND circumcised which is more revealing. If I wear squarecuts in a spandex blend, I feel better with the lift, control and rounded-shaping of a jockstrap underneath. Just my opinion.

I like the 1" waist bands. For some reason the 3" bands bother me. I'm not a huge guy, nor a small guy. (Ck my pics)The swimmer jocks seem told hold my boys adequately.

Well, I wasn't around back then jockwise in the 50's and early 60's but in general I agree with you. I still firmly believe that the death of jockstraps mostly has to do with some wierd phobia about guys showing off their butts. They are perfectly functional gear thats worked for over 100 years. Comp shorts do not work the same way and do not provide the same protection.

i never thought of it that way - and agree with you 100%. I think it is the homophobia built into masculine culture (real men shouldn't show their butts AND a gay guy might see them) combined with a denial that they enjoy the sexual appearance of it all - like lingerie - and that is too feminine for their masculine minds. either way - the only way to go is for us to keep our jock culture strong and support all of our jock bros here. And to wear it proud and strong - let those straps show above our shorts and straps across our legs. Good commentary Navy. Love a man in uniform!

My favorite is the ACE. Having grown up in the 60's and then the Army, I've worn a lot of straps over the years. The ACE has tubular straps and if you are lean and toned those straps will just settle into the crease between your butt cheeks and thigh and then disappear (from feeling). No matter what you do those straps will stay in place, just the most comfortable jock on the planet. I also like the big red "ACE" placard in the center.

Worst JS? That would be the ones that they would hand out at a gym I went to in the 80's. When you went in a crusty old guy (like Rocky's manager ) would hand you a t-shirt, shorts, towel and a JOCK! Those jocks barely had any elastic left and were pretty ragged. As I worked out I used to wonder who wore it the time before me.

A narrow strap has never worked for me, and I never understood the purpose. They were a simmer/jogger strap, and the narrow waistband did not anker my junk like a 3" strap. The only purpose I see for a narrow strap is to be at a pool if you do not want to show a waistband above your trunks. The other is.... well to get rode hard and wet by a cowboy. Gives the rider something to hold on to wile he is mounting and breeding his filly.

When I saw this thread I immediately thought of the recent jock offered by N2N Bodywear (just got some on closeout sale) which is almost like a string jock (example here). But this kind, with a 70s retro stripe, doesn't feel like it's going for a feminine/sissy vibe. The closest I've seen successfully look like truly a 'loungewear' jock.
