With 600+ members, there has to be a percentage of use who don't drop loads or play watersports. I have several that are stained with years of sweat but, I want to launder most of my collection after I wear them a couple of times. Can anyone advise me on the best way to wash my jocks so I can hand my collection down to the young ones in my family. I'll hand wash but why couldn't they be washed like ladies lingerie in a wash bag? Thanks for the advice! Have a great day and stay supported!

Strapped Wrangler posted: FRANKLIN JOCKS have snug pouches, too snug for some guys. 😖 But the WW2 ARMY jocks were about the same. They were issued to everyone. "One size fits all". And if your "vegetables" were bigger than average, that was your personal problem. You were out of luck. 🤕

From what I've read, the starting in WW2 the military issued jockstraps did indeed have snug pouches. As the war effort ramped up there were many logistical issues and shortages of jockstraps was certainly one of them. While there were intentions to provide jocks for all military trainees, the priority was directed assure they were available to paratroopers. The parachute harnesses had two crotch straps and it was essential to keep the testicles out of harms way, and the only way to do this was to do so with tight jock pouches. Keep in mind that jump school training involved weeks of practice jumps, often from ground towers providing many opportunities for "bruised plums", so that is why the Army specs for jocks resulted in the snug pouches. It would naturally follow that a combat soldier would have been of little battle usefulness if he landed, already in agony.

I don't think he military ever transitioned to looser jocks until the late 1970's when the military started to purchase commercially available jocks.

MILITARY JOCKSTRAP HISTORY

Thanks for sharing what you know of jockstrap history! I was in Air Force boot camp in 1967. We were issued a crappy brand with loose ribbed pouches. They also had the tight pouches for sale at the base store. So, we were in transition at that time.

Several years ago I bought suspensory jocks on sale at eBay. They were advertised as being specifically for paratroopers. You are right about "many opportunities for bruised plums"! 🍆🍆 😫
