Jockstraps still required for PE class

I've occasionally searched around to see if jocks are actually still a requirement in some places. Here - PE class - where it was probably almost universal at one time. Speaking from my own experience, jocks were never even mentioned in middle school or high school, much less a requirement. So it's interesting to see it still seems to be alive in a few places.

Comfort, safety, and compliance were the three big reasons my P.E. instructors/coaches required, and randomly checked that their jockstrap and uniform directives were followed. “None of you guys are gonna wear sweaty briefs or boxers the rest of the day, after our P.E. class!” … and, we DID break a healthy sweat in every PE class! None of us dared to challenge that logic, nor wanted to leave the locker room without having showered.

I never left without showering… I was just getting into liking girls, and didn’t want to smell like sweat if I had the opportunity to talk to one of the many girls I wanted to bone.

….. and, there were always a few spare (previously borrowed/lent) jockstraps, and other gear (except shoes) available to the guys who might have forgotten any essentials! A perfect fit wasn’t always available, but we were all “In step” for the class! The reversible blue/white shirts were important for intramural/intraclass team athletics, otherwise “shirts vs. skins” team identifiers sufficed. In addition, I thought it would be cool to require the “skins” to remove their shorts, as well 😊 further supporting their true “skins” identity!

“ Bone 🦴 up.. bone 🍖 in” A few of the girls from the neighboring girls’ school loved to be “jock groupies” at our athletic matches, especially interscholastic football and basketball games. They waited outside the locker room, hope to “score” a date with any of the hormone-raged 🍆🍒 “jocks” after the games. A few of us “played safe” and circle-jerked in the shower room after most of the other guys left. That seemed to be true for those who [later realized their] gay-bi identities!

I can’t say that anyone but the guys who blew me or whom I fucked even suspected I was into guys, and most of them just thought I was straight and liked To get off. One of the jock team captains I ran into by accident much later in life asked me when I came out. I told him I was never in . . . nor out. He got all pissy with me and said — “Well if I’d known —“ I said — “You did know . . . That I liked your holes and that’s all I wanted from you. Seems like it was a good match at the time for both of us, considering the gallons of my seed your body absorbed.” He reluctantly agreed. I was big enough and strong enough and butch enough nobody ever fucked with me.

And when I protected faggots or future faggots who were getting picked on, nobody ever tried to say I was “one of them.” Another thing my oldest brother and both of my dads gave me — a strong sense of responsibility to help others who need help, without considering how it might reflect on me or adversely affect me. And not surprisingly the first man I fell in love with at the ripe middle age of 45 — my husband — is exactly the same way.

Jocks were required when I was in school, starting in junior high. Our coach in sixth grade would sit on the stage to take attendance with all of us lined up sitting on the floor, legs crossed and knees up. Our straps would show out of the bottom of our shorts. That was our jock check. no straps, swap on the butt. That would never happen today.

My boys have no idea what a jock is, other than dad the dinosaur wears one. They went to three different high schools and not one of them even hinted about jocks

Well, a jockstrap was required in 6th grade and then mostly a given ever since then all the way though collage. Men of the 80s/90s were just strapped when playing sprots or hitting the gym. But then there were collage men like me on the teams and we just wore jockstraps. Nice to see on equipment list form 2018 requires an athletic supporter. But that could take on many options for these days and not be a jockstrap. Could be Under Armor shorts. But they are required to shower after an aggressive PE class.

Fantastic research, man. I can't believe schools still list "athletic supporter" in their handbooks. that seems very outdated to me, but I say that because when I started a private boys school in 6th grade, we were issued school PE gear and jockstraps, but that was then. I have fuckin loved jocks ever since.

My husband reminded us that when our son began private boarding school (equivalent of high school) the list of requirements was 2 athletic supporters, along with two sets of school logo shorts, two pair of school logo socks, school logo tshirts, one pair of sneakers exclusively for athletic use, all with his name on the tags, and all of which had to be bought from the school except for the sneakers and straps. The explanation for the two of almost everything was that he would have “freshly laundered athletic clothing daily with a one-day turnaround”. We made certain he had four jockstraps — two to wear and never launder, the other two to cycle through the school laundry. Gotta train our boy right! 😈

Like I said in another post, in Jr high we had a constant reminder from our coaches to wear our jock. Throw in the occasional jock check and by the end of Jr high it was a part of gym. We got used to wearing a jock. Some guys stopped wearing them by junior or senior year, but most of us that were active in sports after school wore them.

Personally I can see how a guy can stand being involved in sports without having his junk supported.

You mean you CAN'T see how?? I'm with you on that tho, even as a jock hound I have to admit, there are other supporters gear beside a jock. I have several sports briefs that do a good job, which is important because my balls hand down to my shin bones...

Yeah, I meant can't. Had a jock blow out on a run once and bounced the last three miles home. The stitching gave out where the pouch and straps connect.
