I wanted to go out for the football team in high school. But dads vacation time always was the last week in August. So 2 years in a row, the coach told me to wait, by the time I was eligable to play, it would be mid season. So, I thought, i'd get to workout with the guys, and be like them. But he suggested to me at being a manager. I'd get to carry the clipboard, make sure all the players had their equipment. I thought it would be cool. Hang out in the locker room, and on the sidelines, be one of the guys. Well my dad told me all i'd be doing was picking up all the dirty jocks and washing them. His son couldn't do that.
Well I thought maybe it would be cool. Sure I'd get my wedgies and locked in a locker, probably, but i'd get to see all those sweaty jocks and their contents. But I backed out. I did get on the swim team and see stuff that way. Also a few used my services.
But in the neighborhood pickup games even football players told me to join as a QB.
