Deodorant

To be fair this isn’t really jockstrap related but I’m curious and figured this group would have opinions.

I’m curious how many other guys prefer not to wear deodorant. From the time I was about 18 I’ve worn deodorant almost every day. Over the past few years though I’ve decided that it’s not really necessary on most days. I still wear it if I have to get dressed up or maybe for a family function but prefer to just leave my pits natural.

What’s your normal? Or preference for others?

Depends on the situation-if I'm going to the bars or getting cleaned up for a hook up, no deodorant. I love when a guy gets his face in my pits, especially if they are a horny married dude. In my daily life, I put it on if I'm headed to work/out and about, otherwise no. Also, I just use deodorant, not anti-perspirant (Speedstick original-the green cap, since I was 13!)

I'm anxious to avoid aluminum exposure, so I'ce been trying various natural deodorants over the years. my favorite is the Pretty Frank (formerly Primal Pit Putty Paste or some such) specifically I buy the unscented non-baking-soda formula. It used to be just magnesium now the formula also has zinc oxide as well so I'm not sure if there's a staining risk but I've never noticed a problem on my shirts.

I'm not socially exposed in the same ways anymore but I've gotten some very favorable male attention for my natural smell. I will say I don't love rancidity on a guy but natural *recent* smell generally is quite nice. A mouthful of deodorant is not fun texture or taste, quite the opposite. The antiperspeirant aluminum dries out the mouth horribly and you can't quite scrape the powdery gumminess of it off the tongue completely, as I discovered to great chagrin at a very social sex setting once.

I'm also reasonably content to go entirely without but I am aware it's not always well received on a room.

4 swipes of deodorant after I shower if it's a workday, 2 swipes on Saturday or Sunday if I'm running errands, no deodorant if I'm staying home. No deodorant on those hot/warm weekend days during the spring/summer/fall when outdoor activities (hiking, walking, yard work, etc...) are more prevalent. I love to build up that wonderful musky pit odor for myself and hopefully others to enjoy.

Gave up putting on a deodorant/anti perspirant years ago, except for being in a stressful social situation where I might sweat. Then I use a no aluminum mineral crystal stick. These crystal salts last for years and years. Sometimes I put talcum powder in my jock. But I find that other than after some strenuous exercise, I don't stink. Each guy has his own natural scent, and the differences can be quite pleasant.

If not commando, then jocked.
The last time I wore deodorant was on the day of my retirement from the Corps, in my uniform. One of several habits I vowed was over, that one having been a bit hypocritical as I always preferred men who didn’t have artificial scents mixed with their own. On the morning of our wedding, eight months after my retirement, I asked my now husband if he wanted me to wear deodorant. He said, “Not on your life!” Then he asked me if that was a last test and I would have bolted if he’d said yes! LOL

It wasn’t, by the way — it was just nerves that day. Eleven plus years later and I haven’t even thought of deodorant for myself since.

This is an interesting topic. I’ve thought about this lately because of the aluminum issue. But I really don’t have the patience to experiment. I’ve opted to not wear if I shower on the same day. I can see the appeal of being natural but not sure how many days I can go before I offend other people. I also always have to wear an undershirt with a dress shirt to protect the dress shirt from yellowing. So any advice to drop it is helpful.

Since it is the colder months now would be a good time to try going without deodorant. Your body will adapt to not having deodorant. I'd still stick with the undershirt as another little barrier to your musk. If you need some deodorant in the middle of the day make sure you wash it all off when you shower. The less time to absorb the better.

last I checked the crystal depdorant still uses aluminum just a different form, supposed to be less absorptive, I dunno. I used to use it myself but switched after I read that.

During Covid and working from home I decided it was pretty pointless to wear deodorant. And I still only use it if I'm gonna be working close by others or with friends/family where the smell of a man isn't as appreciated;) Only deodorant, not an antiperspirant, since my pits sweat very little. Chest and back and be dripping and hardly any pit sweat.

You men make my nipples hard.
I wear it almost everyday. But most days I don't need it. Even light working doesn't make me smell. Now my brother in law doesn't wear it everyday but should. He just thinks about work, and sweats bad, lol.
