I have noticed this month that the gym locker room is more crowded than usual. I see many new guys trying to keep their new year resolution. What has stood out is i am noticing an uptick in shyness. Normally men wrap themselves in a towel and walk to the showers, sauna, or steam room. This month I have noticed guys wrapping the towel around their compression shorts, or wearing the compression shorts into the sauna and steam room.
Normally, I go into those places nude with a towel. I am wondering if perhaps wearing a jockstrap into those areas may start men wearing them again.

So if you are in NYC would you try this experiment with me?
wear your jockstrap proudly in the locker rooms, and into the sauna and steam rooms.

An interesting experiment. I do see guys hitting the steam room/sauna in compression shorts or a swim suit. Most guys however are naked with a towel. I personally don’t like wearing my jock into the steam room. After a good workout, I’d rather Peel off my sweaty jock and let my junk hang free in the steam room. It also allows easier access;)

I just don’t get the attachment to compression shorts. They squish everything down and they don’t even come close to protecting your testicles. Hopefully This fad will pass. Besides, there’s no comparison between shorts and a nice firm ass framed by a jock holding onto a nice solid package of sweaty balls and a firm cock.

It won’t pass. Too many major athletic brands stopped making jocks now and went to compression shorts. They started the young guys into this behavior. I’m one of the last young guys who didn’t wear compression shorts when they became a fad. Got made fun of when I wore a jock in middle school and high school. Kids just didn’t know/understand compression shorts are shit for support.

I totally understand where your coming from. I was the token red head in gym (with freckles) and thought nothing of my red bush and red hairy ass. The ribbing and harassment I took though was nothing compared to getting your testicles twisted because your not in a jock. Yes, it might be rare, but still, I don't want to be the example. We always compliment the younger guys in the gym when we see them in a jock. Gives them an extra vote of confidence, because you can tell sometimes they are nervous.

So true. Seeing these guys in compression shorts, doing that stupid dance to get dressed without letting anyone see their manhood, is entertaining but stupid. Trust us, your not hiding anything we haven’t seen, and if we are boned in the shower, curtain closed, we could care less about you…..unless you care to join us in the private shower stall, soap up and Jack off. You might like it.

I’m pretty much an exhibitionist in the gym locker room. Most of the men have seen me naked or walking around in just my jockstrap after a sweaty workout. I always strip down to my jock after a good session, grab a towel, maybe have a shave, but I always enjoy the unique male environment that a locker room provides. It’s a slightly more mature crowd where I work out, so there is less towel dancing, more conversation and certainly fewer compression shorts. It seems bizarre to me that anyone would want to wear those over a jockstrap. The guys who wear jockstraps I can probably count on one hand, but they are the men who exude the most confidence.

You hit the nail on the head. “The guys that wear jockstraps have the most confidence .” I’ve never worn compression shorts so if that makes me an uninformed judge, so be it. I just know that I’ve never seen compression shorts hanging on a locker door with the same testosterone as a ripe Duke or Bike. Pubic hairs on compression shorts isn’t the same as sweaty ball hairs on a jock. Oh well, enough typing. Think it just follows the trend - no open/gang showers. No in lockeroom steam or sauna. No getting naked, no being relaxed naked or just strapped around other guys


have always wished got to experience the old Y - naked swimming. Thankfully experienced the in lockeroom steam and sauna. (There’s a great book called “take the young stranger by the hand” about the history of the Y)

Crunch Fitness near me has in-locker room saunas. Unfortunately they have individual showers.
