Dates on your jock?

I’ve seen a couple pictures where people have put the initials and a date on their jocks! It seems like most people do this when they are swapping jocks (something I might be interested in in the future) I decided to add my initials and the date I got my jocks to the strap of my first jock!! I’m wondering who adds dates and initials to there jocks and why?!

I've only put the size (S,M, or L) on the inside waistband in marker because my use and abuse of jockstraps often destroys the label's / tag's legibility and I want to know what size each one is or was after it's been ragged out. I've got a few raunchy unwashed jockstraps that are at least 10 and maybe more than 10 years old.

Anyone's mom sew your name inside your jock so you could keep it separate from your teammates or brothers? Money was tight so a lost jock might be an extra expense for a family.

Love seeing numbered jocks... it always makes me picture team laundry and everyone having to dig through them to find their number.

I've been putting an "In Service" date on the inside of my jocks for the last few years. Mainly to see how well they hold up. My "Quarantine" JC Swimmer has both a start and end date on the front. Wore it every day swimming. it now is a permanent sand tan color, and a trophy.

It doesn’t feel right. If I had done it organically, so back in school, then that would be fine. But doing it now just feel weird lol
