I am not a cowboy, but I have many chances to play one on a friend's dads ranch. He wore black bike wideband, I white bike.... Jeans and t-shirts. I would help out for a weekend taking care of the cattle. Moving them into pins for vaccination, banding, loading up to take to market, whatever. I do not know if his dad wore a jock or not. I know that there was no way that anyone couldn't know that we were jocked. Bending over, shirt rises up showing waistband, or wiping sweat from face with t-shirt the visible waistband. When not doing farm/cow stuff, we would go hunting, fishing, riding the quad bikes. His mother and father never mentioned or acknowledged our jockstraps. So, it was perfectly normal in their minds. He's straight, me bi. It was such a rush two good friends strapped the entire time. Sadly, I cannot experience that any longer as his dad passed from heart disease and mom sold the entire ranch shortly afterwards. I just found out he also recently passed away from a massive heart attack like his dad. Both of them will live in my memories as that was some of the best times in my life.

Sorry for your loss. Losing friends who occupy great memories is rough — believe me, I know from almost 3 decades in the Corps and another decade plus since.
