I think something utilitarian - white, for sure, and thin waistband for your purposes. The thicker 3” waistband is great for physical activity/exercise but I’d suggest a plain Bike swimmers jock. Nothing too “fashiony”.

I love that your son does your laundry! i would just be honest. As a 20 year old he certainly has been jerking off himself for years. Just tell him that you jerk off into them and after a while they get stained, and that you’ll buy some new ones! Should make for a fun and open conversation.
