HISTORY:

Details are sketchy. It seems that Bauer & Black started in 1893 in chicago specializing in surgical dressings and plasters. At some point, they opened a New York branch. When they started producing athletic supporters in unknown but I can find advertising as far back as the 1940s.

In 1928, Kendall Mills aquired Bauer & Black and became The Kendall Company.

At some point, another company called BD aquired Bauer & Black as well as ACE and Tru-fit and eventually sold all those assets to 3M who are still manufacturing supporters under the Bauer & Black, ACE and Tru-fit names.
