HISTORY:

From Adams USA website: Adams started in 1947 when Ted Thaxton, a music major and key football player for Tennessee Tech university in Cookeville, Tenneessee refused to play the game without mouth protection. He approached a local businesman, Joe Adams, who worked in the retail sports equipment business, about creating a type of guard which would protect his mouth during the games. The result was the Adams Plastics, Incorportated - currently known as Adams USA, Inc.

It's not known when the first jockstrap became part of their production line. (anyone?)
