Regular Jockstraps/Athletic Supports In Stores

Back in the late 80's and well into the 90's I used to love going to the local sporting goods store and buying my 7 new jockstraps for the fall season of playing sports. The again in spring since I needed new ones. Kind of like buying your books. They were always BIKE since that is what we had in the area. I would toss them on the counter, start opening the boxes and later on clam shells to check the sizes. It was always a male at the counter and he would join in on the verification of sizing. Sure there were T-Shirts, short and sweats as well but I love it that it was no big deal I was buying 7 jockstraps. After HS and Collage I would still go strap shopping since mine got abused. SportsMart which became Sports Authority had a huge wall of BIKE jockstraps, cups and everything they made related to jock support/protection. Recently I went into a sporting goods store and all they had were cups or cup supporters. I just ask do any stores in your area still sell a traditional jockstrap?

Not sure which sporting goods store i was at, but they had regular jocks, and swimmer jocks, without cups. Though they weren’t bike jocks. Just standard mcdavid jocks. That was a couple years ago though. Haven’t been since cuz I can order everything through jockstrap central. Lol. Though I did take advantage of bike’s new website and ordered one.

I used to buy them at a store that is closed now I think. Also, Academy Sports and Outdoors carried them years ago, but I couldn't find them last time I looked. I bought off of Amazon, Jockstraps.com, and most recently at Jockstrap Central.

Back in the 70.s and 80.s hell even the early 90.s you could buy a jockstrap just about anywhere K-Mart, JC Penney, Ames, Sears & others. The mall I used to go to (closed now) had at least 5 sporting goods stores in it. I recall a few of them when you walked in the first thing you saw was the HUGE display of jockstraps. It was awesome. It seemed like I stood in front of those displays forever trying to decide which type/brand I wanted. Those days are gone forever. My local Wal-Mart doesn.t sell jockstraps anymore. There is one sporting goods store left in my city and you can buy a cup jockstrap only or compression shorts with a cup, but no regular or swimmer jockstraps. The funny part about that is I bet over the years I have gotten most of my jockstraps there. Every time I went there for shorts, shirts or a new pair of sneakers I always ended up with a new jockstrap or two. All my jockstrap purchases now are done various places on line. So much for SUPPORTING the local economy!

Modell's and Sports Authority recently closed their stores. Modell's carried SafeTGard and SA carried McDavids. K-Mart used to carry them, but now I no longer see them. Once upon a time, pharmacies carried them. Now even finding hernia trusses in pharamcies is difficult. Like CDs and many other things, the place to get jockstraps now is the internet. Although, for those of you who have seen my pics of jocks I bought off the internet, here is what a store bought jock looks like:

I'm in the UK and the majority of sporting goods stores don't sell jockstraps. I buy online, and occasionally from some adult stores that carry a small range of the more fetish types of jockstrap. There's a chain of gay adult stores called Clonezone that have a huge range, sports and fashion jockstraps, fetish types,swimmer jocks,etc. I've bought many jocks in those types of shop too,and any similar stores I come across on my travels.

A few years ago I went to our local sporting goods megastore to get some compression shorts and a jock, when I encountered a very puzzled kid and his dad. "Well you guys need some help?" Anyhow fixed up with cup, jock, and comp/slider shorts, "you need pants too!", that was for the kid. It's tough if you have to do this shit by yourself

Thank you for your replies. I have been in Dicks and Dunham's which are the only two sporting good stores in the area. I found an abundance of jock/cup supporters but no jockstraps. Thanks for confirming what I concluded that retail stores do not sell jockstraps. Even after HS and Collage I used to love going into a local sporting good store or a larger BB like Sports Mart (which became Sports Authority) and see the hocks picked clean of jockstraps. Bike was the Brand available in the area. The white/Tan were always gone first. The places that carried black Bike straps they went last. All that was usually left were some youth and men's small jocks jockstraps.

i think you're correct. just look at the straight gym bros that cover up at the gym when changing - don't want anyone to see their pecker - they don't know how to feel their own masculinity - and the real manhood of wearing a jock on their strong hairy ass

I found a jock Sears used to sell on ebay. I remember back in the 90'swhen jockstraps made me so embarrassed, it would make me nervous about buying one in a store. I made sure to buy other things with it, as if that made buying it less noticeable.

Now I would love to just be in a store buying them like I used to a few years ago, where I would gage the looks on the faces of the cashiers, to have to deal with grabbing the box and scanning the barcode. And the idea that that jock is soon to be housing my genitals, wondering the extent to which they realize it.

It sucks they are less common these days, too. My dad had one hung on the back of closet door that he would wear to run, workout etc. My older brother did too. Now almost no one wears them to the gym. Makes it seem like the only reason to wear one is sexual.

I know. I do like the fact I can still buy real jockstraps on line. However, it was more fun to toss them on the checkout counter and having them handled and scanned especially by another male. Yes I need and wear a jockstraps. My last great gear purchase was at Sports Authority. I had my T-Shirts and shorts out of my arms while being rung up. Then we got to the jockstraps in my hands. A total of 4 packs of two McDavid straps that were white and black. The young man did not miss a beat to open the packages to help me verify the sizes inside the package were the same as the marking. He did hit one package and looked puzzled. Then pulled the straps out of the box and said OH we have a problem. The package was an adult large and a youth large. He went and got a new package, came back and verified the sizes with me. I was shocked and he indicated he had the same problem once so he know what I was doing. He looked at me, tossed the mismatched jockstraps in the bag and said "share my experience of getting a boys of expecting a man's jock to put on a man's jock. He was about 20 and I was stunned at how he so freely talked about wearing a jock

I was just happy to get them. I wondered what he thought I was going to do with them and then return them! It's not like the old days when sports store sold bulk jocks out of a box back in the BIKE era. Then the hardware store and every department store sold jocks. I checked them all out!

I went into a True Value Hardware store once and found BIKE jockstraps. They even had he #11 packaged individually. When I bought jockstraps I would get the comment they could not be returned. I would just look at them and say....you have got to be f'n kidding me. The female checkers were a bit taken back.
