The dads and sons do love thier jocks. The boys do wear the jocks now in college as they did in HS they got some looks but it didn’t phase them. In college the young men have proudly worn jocks daily.Where are you seeing this? At my high school (5 years ago), I never saw a singular jock. All compression shorts. I had to find out for myself in college online because I wanted more support
I really wish I had that kinda bond with my dad, but I did steal one of my bros football jocks after he moved out. I was hanging with this rugged contractor dude who was quite kinky, so I wanted to wear one for him when he pulled my shorts down. One dad that comes to mind he was a young father to young boy who seen dad in jocks of all kinds. The boy getting ready for tee ball knew dad wore a jock for sports . He would love in dads dresser and found dads bike jock Charlie was 5 yr old naturally was huge on him. But grandpa was traveling from china brought Charlie xs small china jocks for his grandson to try on. He loved them now he’s 11 and full time jock wearing. Yes boys will wear a jockstrap just teach them. now thats a good dad! when i have kids, i want a son and i will take time to have genuine bonding and teach him about being a man. i will teach him to be secure in his manhood and not wimpily throw on some suffocating compression shorts when my son starts playing sports. i feel like having a dad, coach, brother filling out a jockstrap must be really illuminating for a boy wondering who the men in his life are.One dad that comes to mind he was a young father to young boy who seen dad in jocks of all kinds. i wanted to make an art piece/collage with differen tjockstrap package labels. the one with the football player gives me andy warhol meets tom of finland vibes!I really don't have many boxes, but do have a ton of jockstraps
My dad when teaching my oldest brother and me about wearing a jockstap it was really simple by seeing him wearing his old Bauer and Black wideband jock under his black speedo during the summer so we opted to wear a jockstrap also but under regular short swim trunks in late 60’s early 70’snow thats a good dad! when i have kids, i want a son and i will take time to have genuine bonding and teach him about being a man. i will teach him to be secure in his manhood and not wimpily throw on some suffocating compression shorts when my son starts playing sports. i feel like having a dad, coach, brother filling out a jockstrap must be really illuminating for a boy wondering who the men in his life are.
not jocks per se, but my uncle, thick italian american man, was probably the only guy in my extended family who wore briefs and even sometimes speedos to the beach. but i spent a lot of time with him and he really made me confident in the man i am today. open minded, strong, manly but a caring family man. cheers, uncle ed!
I agree about 5 yrs ago I got some youth straps at target and Walmart before switching to online websitesWhen I was a kid, you could get jockstraps not only at every sporting goods store but also at every pharmacy. It was absolutely routine to see them there along with other "support" items, such as back, knee, and neck braces. But around 15 years or so ago I started seeing them in pharmacies less and less. Now it's been *years* (probably close to ten) since I've seen jocks in pharmacies. And they're even becoming harder to find in sporting goods stores (except for the cup-type). For at least the past three or four years now, the only jockstraps I've bought have been online. I think it's a cryin' shame that most men and boys can't buy jockstraps in "brick and mortar" stores anymore.

As teenager so long ago my friends and I would buy our jocks together when on vacation when one or both forgot to pack a jockstrap or 2.Agree...a Rite of the Brotherhood gone
Dicks sporting goods yes carries mc David jocks in adult sizes but the young get stuck wearing compression shorts for PE till they are a adult that’s so wrong. One chain of sporting good store in my area still sells McDavid’s. Only Medium and Large tho. I have to buy all my others online now
I live in Reno and Dicks, and the other big name sports stores, here only carry Shock Doctor with cups in store which I’m not a fan of. The store that carries McDavid is a regional small store called Big 5. Even the sex shops here don’t have sport jocks, just fashion ones that I have a few of but rarely wear cause they have little support and I just really love the classic jock look more than anything.Dicks sporting goods yes carries mc David jocks in adult sizes but the young get stuck wearing compression shorts for PE till they are a adult that’s so wrong.
That must be regional since I have not seen a regular jockstrap in Dick's for years and they only carried Shock Doctor. I did buy one but I did not care how it looked on. I like a pouch built to hold your junk and not cover as much real estate as possible. For a cup jockstrap I still prefer one that just holds the cup like BIKE, DUKE and McDavid. I am unable to wear them just as a jock since for me they need to have the cup inside the pouch.Dicks sporting goods yes carries mc David jocks in adult sizes but the young get stuck wearing compression shorts for PE till they are a adult that’s so wrong.
Well at least you have one smaller store that carries them. Since Sports Authority went out of business I have not seen a jockstrap in a store other then maybe Meuler or Shock Doctor and that is rare. In the 80's and 90's jockstraps were everywhere. Even the small clothing sporting goods stores in the mall had jockstraps in handing in easy view. When Sports Mart came into the area they had the wall of jockstraps. The section had to be 8' tall by 16' wide. They had and 8' wide section of just BIKE 7110s. Then they also had the black #10 which was the 7119 and also cup/jock combos, just cup jockstraps and also just cups. Sports Authority bought them and still kept a good stock of jocks. They did switch from BIKE to McDavid but you could usually find straps unless it was the beginning for football or baseball season.I live in Reno and Dicks, and the other big name sports stores, here only carry Shock Doctor with cups in store which I’m not a fan of. You had an election at the checkout counter? Who did you vote for? When I was in Junior High School I bought my Bike jockstraps at the local pharmacy. I was already aware that jockstraps were fetish material for me. (I’d go to buy a new jock and have an election at the checkout counter). Shortly there after I discovered a mail order catalog called International Male (remember?), and I bought my first sock-type fashion jock (pouch with no leg straps). That was in the late 70s. I wore it to High School under my regular clothes. It made me so horny.
Thoughtful response and elegantly written. I have often said that we need an aggressive "Campaign" with a Superstar athlete promoting jockstraps, and the culture would respond and they'd be the norm.A generation ago, I had the opportunity to speak with an executive officer at Bike (Russell at that point, but Bike was held as an autonomous trademark). Using the metaphor which became the title of a movie, the executive described "the perfect storm" which effectively wiped out the several generations of our understanding, familiarity, and comfort with jockstraps and locker rooms in general.
Relying upon the depiction in "Father knows best" and "Leave it to Beaver", the bequest of a jockstrap was a "rite of passage" between a father and a son. High school sports programs sent home check-lists for gear, and "athletic supporter" was prominent. Until the mid-1970s, American youth faced the real possibility of entering military service in which jockstraps were likewise issued/required.
Jockstraps were quintessential in sports and the military, and many of you will concur that when we were mowing the lawns or riding bikes in the neighborhood or swimming, the first thing on and the last thing off was a jockstrap.
The executive then dramatically swept his hand as if to brush all of that aside. He said that starting in the 1990s, divorce was diminished in its social taboo. More and more households were single-parent and mostly single-Mom. The executive opined that jockstraps were part of the "male preserve", and consequently, with more mothers now responsible for parenting in total, there was less emphasis - indeed, he used the word "squeamishness" - on the part of Mom-oriented homes. Apparently, stereotypes aside, while Moms had kindly washed jockstraps for Dad and sons for the generations before, suddenly Moms were reluctant to actually initiate the purchase of a jockstrap.
Bike quickly shifted focus to what is now called the "compression short". The executive said that after the marketing department had conducted its meticulous research, Moms were more comfortable buying a garment which resembled boxers, rather than the jockstrap which clearly is designed to protect masculinity. Compression shorts could be laundered and dried just like regular underwear, and within a short number of years, jockstrap sales plummeted though compression short sales increased.
The next proverbial shoe to fall was based upon a series of incriminating news articles. While many people hear about paedophilia in the context of the Roman Catholic Church, statistically, priests are actually near the bottom of the list in terms of molestation of young boys. The number one culprit? Yep, high school football coaches. The fetish "I'll do anything to stay on the team, Coach" is based on a very sad and violent reality. The difference in the 1990s is that high school and college programs were quick to pay out cash settlements, so that the revenue-generating varsity programs would not be compromised.
In response, locker rooms and locker room behavior were radically changed. The "gang showers" that so many of us used in sports and in the military were now replaced with individual showers and shower curtains to protect the student's privacy. The often maligned "jockstrap inspection" was surreptitiously prohibited. Coaches were not allowed to enter the locker rooms as the students were changing before or after practice.
And the next issue was funding. In the aftermath of the "Title Nine" findings, many sports budgets had to be significantly adjusted to now apportion equally funding to both girls' and boys' athletics. The inventories of jockstraps as well as other physical education kit and gear were eventually depleted as the budgets were reapportioned. In theory, Americans respect equality, but in reality, it was a death-knell to the equipment room inventories of many boys' and young men's athletic departments.
Some of the gentlemen who visit jockstrap websites are my contemporaries, having been raised with open locker rooms, jockstraps by the bin-full, coaches wandering through the benches, and that bottom drawer in your older brother's dressing chest. I will never say that we must now bask in just memories.
Instead, I will continue to pound the drum that while there may have been a "perfect dark storm" a generation ago, then it is up to all of US - yes, all of us! - to create a perfect, proactive and beneficial movement to (re)-introduce and (re)instate jockstraps to our children and grandchildren's generation.
There were a few articles printed in widely circulated journals, and the authors were definitely opposed to jockstraps. With all of the talent among all of YOU, Gentlemen, why are we smiting our breasts (among other repetitive physical actions) when we should be countermanding those few articles which seem to have fed into the anti-jockstrap sentiment today?
How many bona fide (yes, every pun intended) doctors of medicine read these websites, who could prepare upstanding, medically-verified articles to emphasize the sports medicine reasons for wearing an athletic supporter? Protective cups have their function to block direct impact, but regular jockstraps also function to reduce fatigue, to minimize scrotal injury, and to regulate sperm-killing heat.
Like so many of you, I commend the moderator, John Taite, for not only creating this website, but for establishing such an important company through which we are able to purchase jockstraps. How can we help John to increase his sales ten-fold, and how can we (re)store the main sporting goods purveyors with a full wall of jockstraps?
I remain convinced that unless and until we, as a group, challenge the mainline media with articles which show the medical importance of strapping on a jock, and yes, to find the financial wherewithal to have prominent athletes publicly promote (either through advertisements or through interviews) their use of jockstraps (think of Joe Namath back in the day, with the Bike logo prominently showing through his unlaced football pants!), then these pages on the website will sadly remain in a nostalgic loop.
I, for one, would prefer that millions of young athletes be properly jocked.
What are your thoughts?
I have found that if I have a really aggressive sexual session as a top that my nuts do recover faster if I slip on a strap for support.Thoughtful response and elegantly written. I have often said that we need an aggressive "Campaign" with a Superstar athlete promoting jockstraps, and the culture would respond and they'd be the norm.
Now, I am a HUGE jockstrap fan. Like so many of us here, I grew up with them (1970s). However, I have never understood the marketing phrase "prevents fatigue." Just what "Fatigue" would this be? Do your balls really get tired?? That seemed like a sham.
And, hate to admit it, but the reports I've read by sports doctors say that sports briefs are just as good as jocks for ball support. And it's true: my standard pouch briefs support my nuts as well as my jocks do. I just happen to love how jocks look (even tho' I'm not an ass man. For me it's about the pouch AND the cultural/historical background of a jock.)
So, I don't think science supports (!) the claim that a jock is the only form of decent support. Lots of European athletes wear sports briefs. As one of my college teammates said, "What's so athletic about your ass hanging out?"
Despite that fact, I still wish jocks were ubiquitous as they used to be. I don't belong to a gym any more but when I did over the past ten years, I ALWAYS strapped up and made sure others saw me.
I have found that if I have a really aggressive sexual session as a top that my nuts do recover faster if I slip on a strap for support.
I was pleasantly surprised at my local sporting goods store, Scheels. Most all sporting goods stores here in California had more jockstraps regular, jocks and cups, swimmer jocks. For youth, teen, Adults up to about the 90’s. However as the sliding shorts with cup pouch seemed to be the chioce of many or compression shorts. I found it harder to find more brand choices of a standard jock for my nephews or younger males to introduce them to jockstrap.I was pleasantly surprised at my local sporting goods store, Scheels.
