Regular Jockstraps/Athletic Supports In Stores

I remember ads for BIKE in Boy's Life that read: "Going swimming? Take a BIKE." As a kid I loved looking at that magazine when it had pics of Jamborees with all the scouts in Speedos. Instant "boing"...

Sadly now, friends in three cities in the U.S. who belong to Health Clubs tell me that there are no locker rooms, but private changing rooms, and even if Communal showers/ Lockers are present, guys don't shower but merely take off their long pants or sweats and then put them back on after exercising and go home to shower. They say they haven't seen a guy change into a jockstrap in years; a sad passing of a Rite of Male Bonding.

So true - and all due to hysterical homophobia or straight guys being afraid of another guy seeing their pecker and being afraid of what they would do if another guy saw their pecker. what's wrong with men just enjoying their cock and balls?

That said, it’s no wonder that jockstraps have fallen from use in athletics/p.e. for guys in general, and now perceived as fetish gear as gay social and erotic appeal. Otherwise, jockstraps are seen as “old fashion!” Unfortunate that the practicality, use, and comfort of the traditional ”athletic supporter” has not been maintained as a basic for all guys. Part of this is the business/marketing drive to ”reinvent the wheel” by creating new/different products that do the same thing, and then some ! Men‘s support underwear is a classic example of a thousand new variations on the basic need/desire to support a man’s balls and cock…. Something a “Bike 10“ accomplished well, until the marketplace became flooded with a variety of jockstraps and underwear styles. My Dad’s dresser drawer contained about 3 jockstraps (Bub & Bike), about 5 pairs of boxers, and a few pairs of [white] briefs (Jockey or Fruit of the Loom). There was not really much more available then. Now, it seems every dude [in the locker room] wears a different style and brand to “cradle his junk” through the workout, then leaves them on his sweating ass (no shower) for general wear! Our high school P.E. coaches required hitching up a jockstrap for class, then, after showering, the briefs or boxers. It was called basic hygiene! Now, neither gym classes nor showers are required. Times have changed along with the demand for jockstraps.

You're definitely not wrong. When I'm work out, it's usually only me and some older guys who are wearing jockstraps. It's rare when it's younger guys, or even guys my age (32).
We didn't have to wear jockstraps or shower when I was in high school. Luckily, many of us did shower anyway. Myself and a few boys wore jockstraps, but out of maybe 30 boys, there may have been 4 of us in jockstraps.

modells sporting goods used to have a nice selection of rawlings jocks (in black and white) but they went out of business. Lame.

The schools now don’t offer jocks to the youth in jr high or even high school, But over the years I’ve gotten emails about jocks from kids and teens on misterpoll. Usually after discussing them with the boys they go out and buy a jock like Bike or mcdavid jocks if they find them. All the boys agree why no one taught them earlier jocks rock.

When I was into martial arts I was always amazed at the younger guys who refused to wear a jock. Takings falls and grappling they would get that uncomfortable grimace when they squeezed or pinched a testicle. I would always advise them to wear a jock and always they would get that grossed out look.

Younger boys never understand why a good supporter and cup is necessary. You can lose testicle due to blood loss. Most boys going to school PE don’t even change clothes in front of each other. Not like in the 70’s

This was roughly around the time the Jock was losing favorability with men and boys in general. I really hated wearing one. This was also the time I started martial arts. Grappling and sparring left me wide open for nut hits. Why? Because if you were bent over, or had shifted your weight to another leg, your cup wouldn’t adapt like a jock would. I stopped wearing compression shorts after that. I seriously still don’t understand why things have gone backwards with how support should be and have always been. I mean, when I was in the marines, day one, they made all of us drop our pants and throw on a strap.

Gotta bring it back. Compression shorts in my experience through sports and what not, are garbage compared to how the jockstrap takes care of everything.

Back when were in junior and senior high school athletic supporters were a required for PE class. We official uniform from shorts to tee shirt. A local sporting goods store has special area for back to school. A BIKE display of supporters. Got my first BIKE#10 remember opening that box and aroma of rubber and elastic filled the air. Got hard on putting by BIKE on felt the erotic and sensual felling of my jock.

Back in the 70.s and 80.s hell even the early 90.s you could buy a jockstrap just about anywhere K-Mart, JC Penney, Ames, Sears & others. The mall I used to go to (closed now) had at least 5 sporting goods stores in it. I recall a few of them when you walked in the first thing you saw was the HUGE display of jockstraps. It was awesome. It seemed like I stood in front of those displays forever trying to decide which type/brand I wanted. Those days are gone forever. My local Wal-Mart doesn.t sell jockstraps anymore. There is one sporting goods store left in my city and you can buy a cup jockstrap only or compression shorts with a cup, but no regular or swimmer jockstraps. The funny part about that is I bet over the years I have gotten most of my jockstraps there. Every time I went there for shorts, shirts or a new pair of sneakers I always ended up with a new jockstrap or two. All my jockstrap purchases now are done various places on line. So much for SUPPORTING the local economy!

I agree it’s a shame you can’t walk in a sporting good store and find several brands of jocks for sale when picking out new gym shorts and socks and tennis shoes one stop shopping. Boys now don’t get the thrill of buying thier first jockstrap anymore. It’s easy to do online in private. But so different.

I met some dads on misterpoll and we discussed jocks. A few of the boys were in jr high at the time several were on east coast.
But there was one lad that messaged me from misterpoll directly he was shy to ask his dad about jockstrap.

Brandon was in high high at the time through our emails later he had wished his dad taught him about a jockstrap when he was younger when playing soccer. But he caught on fast he bought his first bike jockstrap his start of senior year HS and has been hooked ever since. He encouraged his younger cousins too back in jrhigh now both are in college and their friends strapping.
