Regular Jockstraps/Athletic Supports In Stores

The last #11 BIKE I found was at a small sports store on State Street in Madison. I was like a kid in a candy store with this rare find. Still have it in pretty good shape. Best jock ever!
I have one Bike #11 which I found and bought. Cost me enough. The sporting goods store here in my area had them back in the 90's and that was the main jock I bought. Currently I have a huge collection of Bike 7117's form the early 90's with the tight pouch and the later 90's with the polyester pouch. I just like that they are the University jocks which I was one issues but only got 2.

I was at an upscale sporting goods store trying to pick out a new jock and comp shorts, and ended up with baffled daddy and kid. I don't know why guys act like this it's not like buying condoms. "What are you gonna be playing?" "Okay, you probably need this, this, and that. Trust me." Daddy and kid were happy. I wanted to follow up with "the athletic tape and bandages are over there" but, enough for one day.

They actually had regular jockstraps? I have tried compression shorts but they end up ridding up my legs and mashing my juck. For me just a regular old jockstrap is the best way

Oh yeah, I am old school. Which means a good jock, and comp shorts. I rike my hamstrings verry verry much. They do two very different things. I rike tooo have them both still working. Comp shorts are no substitute for a jock, as an an engineer, I am baffled as to anyone could not see why. Comp shorts are a politically correct substitute for jockstraps that left athlete's butts exposed. Oh big frigging deal. Nobody cared about that for 100 years.

I'll still be able to walk.

Nothing like a new jockstrap right out of the box

So sad. Back in the old old days it would be great to get them online, except, that wasnt around. Now....sigh.
I always loved buying my jocks. Usually at the stores I went to there were men manning them. I even got into conversations with the store owner's who usually checked me out agreeing it is all a man needs to wear.

Well, in the old old days, they had a fitting room, where they could make sure your jock and cup fit perfectly. And for a lot of guys, that probably was important. All my years, it's been the leg straps, and maybe to some extent, the waistbands that have made me nuts. Pouch has been okay fine.

When I graduated form collage and was going to join a local recreational football league I went back to the store and started looking at all the gear I needed to purchase. The shop owner looked at me and said "why don't you come back at closing and I will help you get fitted". He was maybe 10 years older then me and during conversations I had with him I knew he still played. While is was a little older we were built about the same size. When I came back we talked about what position I was playing and he indicated we needed the same pads/equipment. He mentioned I always wore looser fitting Ts when shopping but that I would need a tighter one for under the pads. I agreed and indicated I did usually wear a tighter one. He had me strip down and took my measurements. He knew I was a little uncomfortable since I really did not know him that well. He looked at me and said. Realex we will do this together since I also need some new gear. He geared up with me and was like another me letting me see how everything fit. At one point we tacked each other in just pads and jockstraps. He mentioned we need cups if this get more intense. We strapped on cups and he realized why I double strapped instead of using the pouch in the girdle. For my legs I needed on larger then my waist size. Long story short he taught me how to clean the shoulder pads and helmet so they did not get rank. Once we were out of out gear both of us were ok hard in our BIKE #11 Jockstraps. We ended up playing on the same team

I was at Dick’s Sporting Goods this past weekend and was surprised to see a display of Shock Doctors. Sad thing was that most of it was briefs/boxer briefs with cups. There were two rows of jocks (one for adult and one for youth) and I could tell that no youth jocks had been bought, while only a few adult jocks had been purchased.

That is sad, but not surprising. Those shorts and briefs don't work the same way as jocks do. But of course it's way okay to have strong compression or comp/sliding shorts over that. I don't know how some coaches live with themselves.

I used to buy them at a store that is closed now I think. Also, Academy Sports and Outdoors carried them years ago, but I couldn't find them last time I looked. I bought off of Amazon, Jockstraps.com, and most recently at Jockstrap Central.
Koch sporting goods store in Cincinnati used to buy bulk boxes. They would cut the box top off and drop the whole box into the rack I front of the single counter.

Koch was downtown and I’d always do a run through whenever I was near. Just had to look at those big boxes filled w jocks.

That is how they sold Champion jocks at the first university I went to. Beeeg bins of jocks at the student store. I hate to admit, but I liked them as much or more than the Bike jocks I was used to on account of the leg straps were a little wider and so they tended to tangle up less. Which is a little counterintuitive. But they sure were cheap. But that was in the old days.

After my roommate and I started pooling our laundry, the wrestler next door wanted in on it, real nice, hot guy, who was on the wrestling team like my roomie, he wore Flarico V-gard and some other jock they made. They solved the annoying tangling problem by making the leg straps way narrower out of some kind of tubular elastic. They were way comfortable. Since we did the laundry and dumped it in a pile at our place, we ended up wearing each others stuff a fair bit of time.

My roomie and I mostly wore jocks instead of regular underwear, all the time, not just for sports. I don't know if that was because of laziness, or what. Well, one last thing you don't have to wash is great.

Bike sold school packs which was a box of 12 jockstraps. I bought two of them off of ebay. The first one came in the original box with my name and address on it. We had smaller mail boxes at the time with a bulk bin for larger items and the box said BIKE one dozen athletic supporters large #7110. I am sure they were marked that way since schools/sporting good stores bought several boxes that way and could stock them by size. I was not upset that everyone who checked mail that day knew I bought 12 large Bike jockstraps. More pissed he wrote on the original box. I kept them in the original packaging for years until they started to yellow. I took them all out an washed them. The other one I bought was a more vintage bike package of 12 which were the University #7117 (a cup waist band with a regular jockstrap pouch) and that guy sent it to me in an outer box. Yes I opened it and have 6 of them in my draw. But I still like looking at the box with the small take indicating style and size. Funniest time was I ordered more than $100 Dollars worth of jockstraps form a site. I had a note from USPS tapped to my door that I needed to sign for them. The next day, Saturday I watched for the post man. I signed for them as he held onto my box of jockstrap. Now the ultimately funny story not just strap related is when I ordered new lug nuts for my car since the service station putting my on tires destroyed the suckers. UPS man, who was hot, show up and I greeted him at my door. I looked at him and said Oh I see you have my nuts in your hands. He had a look of terror on his face while turning red. I just laughed and said.....LUG NUTS.....He busted out laughing. But he could have held my nuts and I would have held his.

Our mom and pop clothing store in town sold BIKE jocks out of bulk boxes back in the 80's. During back to school time and summer football practices they kept them on a shelf behind the checkout. They carried the red gym shorts and reversible t's we had to have for high school. You got your uniform and then they would offer you a new jock to go with. Our school office also sold bulk Bike jocks in case you left yours at home you could go get another one. Both the school office and the department store was all female, a little uncomfortable for a teen guy.

Later on I went to a sporting goods store out of town and they had open bulk boxes of Bikes in one of the aisles. I think they were $1.99 back then. I come around the corner and two guys were checking them out but put them back with one saying he could get a new jock at K-mart for a buck. There was no comparison to the quality of those two jocks side by side. Wish I had grabbed a handful.

I remember the reversible T's/ Jerseys. I wish I had seen the open boxes of jockstraps in a store. Sure every fall we got two handed to us as part of our equipment distribution which were from the bulk pack but at 1.99 I would have grabbed the box.

When you are in a store selling jocks in bulk boxes you are also in a store with dudes who buy jocks out of bulk boxes.

On the rare occasion that I’m in a lockerroom with another dude changing in or out of a jock I get a wow feeling. It’s like a brotherhood.

The majority of my first jockstraps, including my first cup/jock (AllStar w/ the baseball player on one side of the box and the football player on the other) were purchased at a now closed local sporting goods store here in Columbus Ohio called Agler Davidson Sports. It's where we were suites up for every sport but Ice hockey.
