Posting photos has become really hard last 2 days

It took me hours of repeated attempts to post my contest photo yesterday.and posting to the what jockstrap today thread...
Having same today...
Tried to post 3 photos and only one worked.
No problems posting to my albums at all

That's strange. I just did a test post with a fairly large photo and it worked fine for me.

My first thought is perhaps there was a glitch or slowdown with your internet connection at the time?

The other thing, and pretty sure this is what it is: The contest forum shows many more post without going into pagination than all the other forums. I increased the posts per page for the last contest as I didn't think the late entries got the attention they deserved if they weren't all on the first page. That, combined with the fact that all the entries are using the Full images and not the thumbnails means all those full-size photos have to load first - some of them are pretty huge thanks to all our new cellphones taking photos with their 50 megapixels lenses.

I view the site mostly on my office desktop with a fairly fast fibe 50 internet connection. Although my computer is only hooked up to it via wifi, it's still pretty fast.

Try posting some images here and if they post fine then it's because of what I mention above with the contest forum in particular.

I think that's a different issue. Another member was having the same issue. Turns out the system can't handle a photo that's larger than 5500 pixels wide or high. Although it will upload the file as an attachment, it can't display it the regular way so you won't get the ability to embed the photo in the post, it will just show up as an attachment.

Send the original image to my email ( john@yourjockstraps.com ) and I'll test it to see if it's the file itself or the something else.

Was that the original image you were trying to upload to the contest forum? There was no issue uploading it for me. If it was, you give it a try to upload it to a new reply here.

Regarding the photo of yours I posted above, was that the original photo you were trying to post to the contest forum? Did you downsize it?

There's got to be some logical explanation.

As for this site and USG, both are on the same servers with the same configurations so it makes sense that if you're having an issue on one then there will be an issue with the other.

I just adjusted some settings to the software and server.

There was no limit before on photo dimensions but have now set the maximum dimensions to 1600x1600 pixels. If a file is larger than that, the software will resize the image. To be honest, a full size image embedded into a forum post will only display at a maximum 1200 pixels anyway (on a wide-screen desktop monitor) so there's no point in larger sizes.

I also increased the maximum total pixel count allowance. Should be able to handle photos taken with a 80 megapixel camera (which I don't think actually exist yet!),

Try uploading the original photos you tried to upload to the contest forum here in this thread and let me know if it's any better.

As you can see, I uploaded the photo using a regular account (i.e. not an admin account) and it also worked fine. I'm completely boggled.

So now I'm back to thinking it's Internet related. Perhaps the upload is timing out.

Do you mind if I ask you want device you're using to upload the photos?

That still doesn't make sense to me.

I just did the post above through my iphone. I sent the photo to me and then uploaded it when my Iphone connected through Wifi.

It's going to cost a fortune for you f you're uploading photos using cellular data.
