For years I've been fantasizing about that first jockstrap and that experience. I remember it well. I had one of those Champion jocks. Super comfortable. Like the Bikes of the era, soft cotton and rubber and whatever else. Didn't last very long with regular washings, but sooo much more comfortable than the stiff, scratchy polyester Bike, etc., jocks of today. They were inexpensive so you could buy three or four and they'd last you the entire school year. I find today's Nike jocks are comfortable, with cotton-covered waistband and leg straps, but the pouch is not knit (ugh!) and the waistband is less than two inches. Why can't someone make a soft, comfortable wide-band jockstrap like the Bikes and Champions from back in the day? Can anyone recommend similar that is available today?
