Marine Antics in a Locker Room

This isn't Jockstrap related. I just hope y'all enjoy this story.

When I was in the USMC, I was fortunate to throw discus for them. They would send us to different sports camps to help critique our forms.
Back in 2014, I was sent to Oregon for a Track and Field camp at the Nike Campus. Most of the Marines were doing Track rather than Field, so
they stayed on Campus to run the track. I had to go to another part on Campus to throw discus. In the mornings, we would drop our clothes in
lockers that were designated for us. Just imagine you've never seen/been around active duty military, and seeing 15+ young, tatted up guys
walking into the locker room. Seeing the faces of all the older folks when we all walked in was funny as fuck.

After the first day, most of us were too sweaty to wait and take a shower at the hotel, so, most of us stripped down. None of us really cared being seen
naked. We all grabbed our towels out of our lockers. We were all bullshiting around, talking about what we all did that day. Myself and a few other Marines
had our legs propped up on the benches they had in the middle of the lockers. So, our dicks and balls were completely exposed. This was also at the time
when most of the Employees were getting off work. So, a lot of folks would come around the corner where we all were, seeing us completely nude. We all didn't
care at all. We all laughed seeing a lot of them folks either turned completely white, or red in the face, turn around and walk away. It really seemed like those folks were sheltered
as kids. After we all showered, we headed to the hot tub, since we were all sore. There were a few Nike guys hanging out in there. Once we all got in,
they all got out, again, they were red in the face.

Now, this is the weirdest thing we talked about with this whole experience we all had. I don't remember who brought it up, but it really stuck with me.
Why didn't any of these guys talk to us? Were they that scared seeing men naked? Did we shock them too much? The biggest question that was also brought
up was, why had they not wanted to at least chat with us since we were military? To this day, I still can't put my finger on what their issue was.

When the camp was over, we all got invited to this big event the Nike Campus was having. Most of us who were allowed to drink got 4 tickets a piece for
beer or wine. A few Marines I was good friends with, decided to try and mingle with everyone there. The women had no problem talking and flirting with us.
The guys however, would only talk with us for a few minutes, then walk away. This shit has stuck with me for a long time. I wished those guys would have
told me, or at least another Marine what their issue was with us.

I can only postulate as a career Air Force guy. At my first duty station, I was one of a few guys who couldn’t swim. Six of us from the squadron got together and took lessons at the base pool. The AF special forces guys did a TDY at the base and naturally trained at the pool. These guys had super toned bodies and of course all of us were pretty good looking 20 something year olds. Now all of us were military on a military base and that could be the difference from what you experienced in a civilian setting. But all of us were put off at first and not very friendly to these guys ….. just intimidated to the max. From the start though, with meeting them in the locker room, each of these guys went out of their way to engage with us. These guys took us under their wing and gave us the most comprehensive swim lessons we never would have received otherwise. Maybe if you guys could have been a little more outgoing and realized that you were a super intimidating group, your experience may have been more positive. BTW, they all just lazily walked around naked in the locker room with us and groomed their bodies and shaved their balls. Needless to say, I started wearing a jock strap and still shave my balls. 👍🏻

That makes a lot of sense now thinking about it. I mean, me and my 2 buddies tried talking with the guys all week even when we caught them on their lunch break. They’d literally pack their lunch up and walk off. I kind of also got the impression they were really stuck up. Just that place in general had that vibe.

Damn I wish I could've been there. I'd have chatted you guys up. Hell I woulda stripped down myself and asked you guys if you wanted to hit the sauna and keep talking. Good conversations while getting a good sweat and being naked with some good dudes. It's good for the mind when you can be completely relaxed and no one is self conscious. We're all men, we've all got the same equipment and know what it does and the things come up from time to time. Men need to have time to relax with their armor off around each other.

It's been one of the great frustrations of my life to discover only DECADES too late that an awful lot of STUDLY MEN are NOT unfriendly but often just leery of other guys who aren't part of their particular gym/corps/sport «safe» specialty circles. Back in the day it could be downright dangerous to be «too friendly» for several different reasons. I well remember when in my final year at university being «required» to earn a credit in PhysEd «mens sana in corporo sana» was the mantra. As a team-sports klutz and not wanting to be snared by the tentacles of the class squid in the Social Dancing class, and with the only available pool on the other side of the city I «selected» the only «class» left: WEIGHTLIFTING. As a Clarles Atlas reject with broomstick arms I was almost hoping to get thrown out. However, to my slight chagrin and happy surprise, the Big Bruisers in the Weight Room took me on as their Pet Project assuring me that by graduation time I'd be amazed and proud of the «new me». I got tons of help and began making friends including one of the Equipment Room attendants who, when he discovered my jockstrap fetish, would allow me to «fish» for a jock in the «SMALL» bin to find one I found interesting. He often «forgot» to get those back! I packed on a considerable amount of muscle hitting 180 SOLID pounds by Easter. Meanwhile I got a spotting partner who who I only discovered years later would have galdly offered more «support» than just spotting and advice, although I did enjoy opportunities for my face to come pretty close to what was obviously his throbbing jockpouch. All this to say that there was a genuine camaraderie in the Weight Room which helped me to become comfortable around other men clothed, jocked, or naked. Every boy should have similar opportunity to be comfortable with his own body and comfortable around other boys — clothed, jocked, or naked.

So excellent all that happening to you! Totally agree that boys need to learn to be comfortable with themselves and around other males in various states of undress etc! It's definitely up to us to teach them that...
