With 600+ members, there has to be a percentage of use who don't drop loads or play watersports. I have several that are stained with years of sweat but, I want to launder most of my collection after I wear them a couple of times. Can anyone advise me on the best way to wash my jocks so I can hand my collection down to the young ones in my family. I'll hand wash but why couldn't they be washed like ladies lingerie in a wash bag? Thanks for the advice! Have a great day and stay supported!

I'm with you, bro, on clean jocks.

There are soaps that will "kill" the elastic, especially if left in. I lost the list; I am sorry. I will try to remember to write if I come across it. But I believe you should avoid chlorine bleach. Avoid Woolite, even though it sounds safe. You can Google care for elastic and rubber and find warnings.

I inherited a historic jockstrap collection, (which I actually would like to sell). Some of them came with disgusting stains on them. I removed them successfully and made them white again. I experimented with peroxide and enzyme stain lifters. Whatever I used didn't hurt them. But did not leave the chemicals in longer than necessary to do the job and I immediately I washed/soaked out every trace of chemicals in cool water and little agitation. I honestly soaked them in buckets of cool water for a day or longer, changing the water.

I try to avoid running mine through the dryer. The dryer seems to cause the most damage. I had a rack in my laundry room I would hang them on to dry. My wife would hang her bras on it too.

My daily wear jocks I wash after wearing 2-3 days if I haven't sweated. My work out straps get washed after every work out. I'm not concerned about them wearing out, it just gives me an excuse to buy more.

When I find a jock I like, I buy 6-12. I have a ton of the 2" Bike performance jocks in all colors and the same with all the Bike swimming jocks. I love, love, love the new Nike and have 8 of each and am hoping for them to release the everyday cotton jock in white. I have several that have only have had an initial wash but all the every day wear jock get a wash after every wear. Top load washer on delicate setting and hung on a clothes line to dry.

AVOID THE DRYER!

In high school and college they gym departments issued jocks for everyone to wear. I suspect that for a few decades most of the jockstraps sold were sold in bulk for teams or schools to be washed and issued weekly.

They cooked them in the dryer at a hot temperature to kill the jock rash fungus. I never saw it weakening the pouches, but the elastic shrunk up so much that I could barely cover my stuff, and I am average size. The new pouches went from having enough stretch to accommodate your sack lunch, to being too small and tight for anyone over average. I think when they manufactured the jocks they took into account that they would be shrunken in the dryers.

As a teenager I worked on ranches. I paid my buddy's mom to do my laundry. She cooked my jocks in a dryer and I was amazed at how the pouches shrunk up. Too much.

I bought a Franklin a few years ago. The pouch is loaded with rubber, which is great. It was snug, which I want, but just little too small to keep my balls from popping out the sides when I move. The bad part was that it flattened everything against my body; not enough of a pouch shape for my needs and activities. I put it in the dryer and the rubber melted. The pouch came out tiny and hard as a rock.

If it's one or two I wash by hand with mild soap like dad taught us especially after sports. But now as daily underwear and sleep jocks I bag them in laundry mesh bag . Always hang up to dry. They last so much longer.
You had a smart dad! Often I just rinse the pouch of the jock in running water every day or two and let it dry overnight. I don't need to wash the whole thing. After several wearings I put them in the laundry and save them for machine washing with soap. I get behind on laundry. I often save up 20 or more jocks before I do a load of them. I wash them together in a separate gentle cycle.

When I travel in the Fall doing farm harvest work I have no place to do laundry for 4 months. When I get home I might take 50 or more jocks to the laundromat. That really surprised my work partner to see so many jockstraps! But jocks are my only underwear.

I have a couple of those bags for some socks that monitor my feet...now they'll protect my jocks! Thanks. Wash, but air dry as with my socks

I like to use a laundry bag for my jockstraps, on a moderate heat setting, with mild chemicals, to get them clean and fresh smelling. I wear jockstraps as my underwear daily, and much prefer pristine jocks sometimes twice a day. I naturally air dry them,as a drier ruins the elasticity of the pouch and waistband. It's not uncommon for me to wear 15 jockstraps across a week, and I often hang them on a drying rack, or outside on a rotary washing line 🤔👍👍

My dad taught/showed me as a youth-adolescent during our regular trips for basketball, swimming, and other sports at our [men only] YMCA, to wear my sweaty jockstrap (only) into the gang shower. Use the bar soap to lather the pouch/straps, then remove the jock to double as a washcloth to lather and rinse the skin, balls, crack, etc. After thoroughly rinsing the body and jock, best hang the supporter on a shower room towel hook and/or at home to air dry, but never in an automatic dryer.. i remember this “shower wash” process often sprouted me a sturdy boner. No problem, as my dad had told me that it was a natural response, sign of good health and nothing to be embarrassed about amongst a bunch of other guys. In fact, I noticed he was also “standing in good health” on a few occasions. I guess erections were just as contagious those days, but fewer guys thought of it as a display of sexual interest, and more something that just “happens” when you “unleash the beast!” Yet, I always liked seeing an occasional erection in the showers, or on a guy stepping out of his jockstrap. I still prefer hand/shower washing my jocks, and the now-quick line dry, never the automatic dryer!. Occasionally, washing jockstrap(s) with socks in the mesh bag will work. Then, the few that I share with buddies, for huff/cum rags, only get soaked with sweat and jizz loads, but not washed !

I have at least two hundred straps! Many are twenty years old! Always save my straps up. Just wear them once and put them in my strap hamper after wearing. When it is full I use Tide Free detergent on them in the washer, cold water, delicate cycle with 15 minute soak setting… extra rinse. Once they are all washed I hang them on a couple of trying racks that I place under a ceiling fan… they are dry in a few hours and then fold and put them in back drawer so I continuously rotate my straps

I machine wash my jocks with my other laundry usually in cold water. I hang dry on a door knob to avoid the damaging heat of the dryer. Then ranger-roll folding and into the drawer. I also wear wash them in the shower occasionally.
