I am intrigued by the Adonis Belt: "popular for wear with evening clothes, and is favored by society men, club men, actors, public speakers, etc. It is indispensable to men who like to be faultlessly dressed. The pouch is fastened with six snap fasteners allowing the pouch to be opened without fully removing."
So many questions... Is this what men back in the 20s were encouraged to wear? Were Douglas Fairbanks and actors of the day wearing the Adonis Belt when they attended Hollywood parties? Did this jock make their bulge more prominent? I imagine the snap pouch enabled them to take a piss more easily.

I think it was the 80s, back when BIKE jocks were more popular and prevalent, and I was perusing the jockstrap display at a sporting goods store.
I was holding a box for the classic white BIKE 10 3-inch wideband strap and reading the back where all the sports it could be worn for were listed. One of them was bowling. I was an avid bowler at the time and bowled 2-3 leagues a week. At the time the only jock I had was a BIKE swimmer and that was obviously for swimming, not bowling, so I bought that jock right then and there. My then wife thought it was strange that I needed to wear a jock for bowling when I hadn't needed one before. I told her that the doctor had recommended it to prevent groin strain which she seemed to understand. I haven't bowled without wearing a jock ever since!
