I prefer a snug fitting jock. For contact sports where I need to wear a cup, it is essential that my jock fits tight and holds the cup firmly in place. Recently I've started wearing a jock and cup and then a pair of compression shorts over them to hold everything firmly in place (nothing beats the Diamond MMA Cup + Compression Short Combo for this, and it also give you a very manly bulge).
