What is the general thought on a jockstrap in the steam room/sauna? Post workout at the gym, jock or no jock? The gym I occasionally attend, where at 52 I'm one of the younger visitors, jockstraps are not uncommon. I have worn mine into both the sauna and steam room but I'm wondering if I broke some unmentioned rule by doing so. I showered in my jock before entering and sat on a towel. No one has ever said anything or looked twice. I even had a man in his 70's comment that he was glad the jockstrap wasn't dead. And, it's an everyday scene of a small group of old men having a conversation in the nude in the the locker room. So, I don't think it's an issue. I'm just curious about everyone's thoughts.

Well stated, SCPettinga ! Likewise, my preference is to use the steam/sauna in relaxed nudity while sitting on a small towel. The jockstrap alone is occasionally worn through the locker room and/or into seam/sauna as a way to gage acceptance, initiate “jock talk” or otherwise make similar observations of other guys at the spa. Generally those of us who absorb the heat, sweat, and “let it all hang out” are nonjudgmental and share our appreciation of being naked there. Therefore, an occasional spontaneous erection, or even some self-pleasuring is a natural extension of our male physical, sensual, and mental well-being. My observations confirm that most guys in that environment are not threatened by another man minding his own business in these situation. In fact, an energetic exercise of comparing stamina, pleasuring techniques, size, and ejaculatory response, can often be a desired, and enjoyable appreciation of the moment! We’re all curious in wondering how we “measure up” or compare performance with the next guy. For one, I sometimes engage my conversation with the next guy in curiosity over my erection response, firmness, etc. with other men of various age ranges. We always want to know how we are doing in our sexual performance and stamina. There’s no better place to “show your cards” than in a super-heated room with a bunch of naked men. That’s life, enjoy it !

If it's acceptable to be nude in a particular steam or sauna room, I'm definitely going to be nude. I love my jockstrap, but naked and natural is best... HOWEVER, if the establishment requires "something" to be worn, then I would wear the jock just to demonstrate how ludicrous such a rule is!

Rules say no nudity in lockrroom, and swimming suit required in whirlpool. GO FIGURE!! Most in sauna and steam have a towel, some with towel opening in the front. and a few totally nude. I am always jocked in lockerroom, sauna, steam, and whirlpool. Very, very seldom have I seen another jocked guy at the gym or pool. One time I was called out on it by a staff member.

No nudity in the locker room? That's what they're for. What is up with people?

I've been to a gym with steam and sauna. ALL the guys were naked with towels around them. Maybe I was always there at the wrong times, but I, unfortunately, only saw a guy open his towel once. And very unfortunately - NEVER saw anyone jacking off or playing with another guy.
But I DID jack off in both rooms a couple times, taking the dare of being caught, but never was. Damn!

My Y change room everyone is naked from younger to older. Some wear jocks. There is sauna steam and jacuzzi as well as open showers so plenty to see. There is one guy who went in same time every lunchtime. - stripped off suit - worked out and then would go shower. He was about 6 2 super fit - great body but not over developed and a nice package - though more of a grower I suspect.
always a pleasure to shower when he does . He is completely oblivious though as to how many guys watch him come in and out.

If your "suit guy" is as fit and hung as you say, from other fit and hung guys I've seen, my guess is that he's more aware of other guys watching him than he lets on. And I'd guess he likes it and that's part of his reason for going - to be admired.

I'm wearing a jockstrap when I arrive at the gym, then will change into a jock for working out before I exercise, then shower in it and will hit the steam room in it, before changing into my jock I arrived in and get dressed to leave. I'm 30 and have never had an issue, and like others have received compliments and other steamy action as a result. Highly recommend!

My gym doesn't have a steam room or sauna but it has communal showers. Just one wide open tiled wall room with multiple showerheads. There is an older crowd in the mornings with younger guys mixed in. With the showers being communal I think that makes the atmosphere in the locker room area more relaxed. No need to hide behind a towel or be modest while changing if you're walking to a shower room 20 feet away that's all open. The older guys aren't at all shy and I've noticed that the younger ones are starting to follow the lead of the older ones and are more apt to change without trying to hide. If you go in the afternoon when the crowd is younger, everyone seems to be a bit more conservative. When I go I just change in and out of my jockstrap right in front of my locker and walk to the showers naked with my towel in my hand, come back and dry off right in front of my locker and get dressed.

Wish wasn't so shy when younger. I hid my body and couldn't really look when other dudes were changing. The greatest thing to fear is fear itself. So what if a dudes body responds to another dudes body!

At my gym, the clean towels supplied are available at the entrance to the tiled area (open gang showers, steam, sauna, Jacuzzi) from the locker room. Lots of us strip down at the lockers, then walk naked to pick up a towel or two upon entering the wet area. While a few guys will wear gym shorts, swimwear, etc. into the wet area, almost everyone naturally showers naked. Some of these showers have stall dividers/curtains, the rest are open gang shower heads. We each seem to have our own comfort level with varying degrees of public nudity! It’s all good !

Don’t quite understand the “fear” in being naked/mostly naked, except that it possibly represents a vulnerabilty. Yes, we probably wouldn’t want to walk naked in a snowstorm, or play a football game naked, but a gender-segregated shower spa environment presents no apparent physical threats. What IS there to fear? No fear or embarrassment should be had by sporting a [healthy] boner! A thorough soap shower is a naturally sensual activity, and can certainly be enjoyed as such! An erection in a men‘s shower room, naturally contagious, is for some to admire, others to envy, and all (especially the owner) to enjoy! Just part of our manhood that we can appreciate as a natural part of the territory! This is surely a matter of overcoming “fear itself!” Now that erection enhancing meds are so prevalent, we should naturally expect to see more erections being restrained [by jockstraps?] and popping up in the showers !

I go on a lot of cruises, and many of the better ships still have both a steam room and sauna, plus of course plunge pools or larger pools to pop into and cool off between sauna and steam room sessions. Jocks are always the best thing no matter what else you might want to put on.

the all male Gym I go to all I wear is a Jockstrap with running shorts most Guys don't wear any thing in the steam room or sauna
but i like to keep my Jockstrap on in the outdoor pool most guys swim nude or in a Jockstrap

Where is this gym where you can swim nude?
