I'm totally confused by all the different ShockDoctor CUPS I'm hearing about. From what I've been able to gather elsewhere there's a SD «TITANIUM» cup which is supposed to be the RollsRoyce of cups but whenever I've tried to actually BUY one online if it shows up at all it's always «Out of Stock».
Ok, for the most part, the difference between the cups is mostly marketing. I added a picture of the base cups from SD and will explain below.
The SD titan alloy cups are relatively the same size as the ultra-carbon flex cup; except they are about 10mm shorter. It keeps the more stiff sides from digging into your thighs. Trust me it helps. However, fitment wise, I'd rather have the ultra-carbon flex.
Is there a differnece in SIZE as well as construction? Some of you seem quite happy with the COMFORT (read SIZE) of your SD CUP but WHICH SD CUP? The only SD cups I see in stores here in Western Canada are pretty ordinary-looking and PRICEY. — hardly worth the extra cost for something no different from the also-rans. The crappy-spotty supply of CUPS out here on the West Coast is both surprising and annoying.
- Let's talk about the pic I added for this question:
From left to right (all are Large cups):
1. Original Ultra-Carbon flex cup - Probably my favorite for fitment and heat/moisture reduction. The plate on the front cools slightly and most all your sweat will condense on the back of it and not inside your cup giving you swamp dick. It also does flex well and isn't as gimmicky as it seems. Feels like a comfy hand holding your junk.
2. 2nd iteration of theCarbon Flex cup (orange) - All marketing and just a color difference from the white
3. 3rd iteration of the Carbon Flex cup (new logo) - SD cheaped out. Made the protector plate have stamped carbon like markings and made it of substantially harder plastic that doesn't flex. Kinda defeats the purpose and doesn't condense sweat like the other two. Fitment is the same however.
4. Original BioFlex cup - MUCH slimmer, MUCH longer, no where near the encompassing height as the CarbonFlex cups, and squeezes your balls uncomfortably. Plus the long tail sits between your thighs and just grinds the skin away.
5. 2nd iteration of the BioFlex and looks remarkably similar to the carbon flex. It sucks. It's too long and the height too shallow. Throw them away.
6. Aircore cup soft - They are about the same dimensions as the carbon flex but have an added 3mm worth of padding around the plastic. Add on the cup pocket material and it makes for a much more cramped space. The well endowed won't like these anywhere near as much. They are super squishy and nice for light protection. However, these you don't need undies/jocks with a cup pocket. You can just toss them on and let them sit against the skin. They're that comfortable. I have quite a few that are directly connected to the jock and I love them.
7. Aircore cup hard - Same as the soft except the inner plastic protector is MUCH MUCH more stout. It's equally as comfortable.
Winner for me are the original Ultra-Carbon Flex cups or the Aircore Soft cups.
PS... STAY AWAY FROM THE "SHOCK DOCTOR SPORT" CUPS! Those are rebadged McDavid cups and are rediculously uncomfortable.
Would it be worth my while to travel down to Trumpland for a better selection and what BigBox store would have the best selection? I gues The Wall of Jocks is history now??? I get regular ads from the online store SportStop for WARRIOR brand cups — anyone ever wear one? Review???
Absolutely not. Buy a set on ebay and have them shipped. If not, send me a DM and you might be able to convince me to part with one or two.
