Back around 1992 I was working for a large retail department where the sporting goods department was right next to the hardware department where I worked. We did have a wall between us so I could only hear the conversation. A mom came in and needed to buy her son a new athletic cup and jock combo. It was during a slower time in the store so I was facing product. I am listening to this conversation between these two women. The mother was like well, I am not sure if he needs a youth large or an adult small. Now I also have to say the female sales associate was in here later 50's while I was in my 20's so to me this was hysterical. This went on for about 20 minutes and I was fearing the employee would stick her head around the wall and say....can you come here and help us? It was well know I was a jock and since I was a good employee they worked around my team practices and workouts. Finally the employee says, " Well maybe get him this one, being the adult small, "It will make him feel better." For me jockstrap talk was always between my dad and I. Mom tried talk to me as to why I needed one on the way home from clothes shopping adventure (back to school shopping so the trunk of the Caddy was full of shopping bags). Not to mention I was in the passenger of this 1979 land yacht that did not have a full center conceal. Yes there was an arm rest but I did not have my own space.
