I was thinking about buying Bike Jockstrap #10 in white, are they a popular brand? I've heard quite a few people mention Bike Jockstraps being pretty good

Bike were the first real brand of jockstraps. They started in the late 1890s and were developed for the bike couriers who had to ride their bikes over cobles tone roads. They were later adapted for use in sports.

For that reason, (and others) they're are considered the ultimate jockstrap for so many guys.

They changed ownership a few times until 2016 when Fruit of the Loom bought the brand and discontinued producing jockstraps. About a year and a half ago, another company took over the brand and relaunched them. Not sure of the connection with Fruit of the Loom but I don't think they are involved at all as they relaunched with a small budget and had a lot of growing pains at launch. Seems like they have sorted things out but are still not wholesaling to other companies other than International Jock.

I'm not sure how they compare to the original Bike jocks as I haven't gotten my hands on one but I'm pretty sure they are not using the same manufacturer. Some of the jocks are made in the USA and some I believe are made in China. Right before Fruit of the Loom bought Bike, their jockstraps were all made in China.

They are also taking the company in a new direction, creating lots of variations of their jocks including producing a collection of Gay Pride themed jocks, shorts and shirts. Making it more mainstream. They're also playing off on the retro quality of the brand - which I quite like.

(just a little condensed Bike history lesson!)

Thank you! Very informative and nicely condensed!! Excellent hearing that some of the Bike jockstraps are being made here in the U.S.A.

As far as I'm concerned, the classic Bike #10 (like the one I'm wearing in my photo) is the quintessential jockstrap. I consider it the standard to which all others (including other types of Bike) aspire to with varying degrees of success. I can't vouch for any of the new Bike knockoffs, however, since I don't have any of those yet. I will say, however, that the classic Bike #10 runs a little on the tight side. For maximum support while playing strenuous sports (such as football or rugby), then you should stick with your standard size. But for maximum comfort I would generally recommend going up one size, which is what I have done ever since giving up more strenuous activities. For instance, based on waist size, I would wear L (large). But I find XL (extra large) much more comfortable while still providing more than adequate support for everyday activities. Good luck!

The "original 10" jockstrap BIKE is selling is not even close to the original #10 but a tribute to the 7117 also known as the University jock. During that period BIKE jockstraps were tan. They used to have stripes based on based on size. One strip was small...two was med... Ect. Then they all went to 3 stripes with colored tags. Yellow was small, blue was med and red was large. Not sure what XL was. The cups had a red, yellow and blue stripping. The cups were flat, but the waistband was more durable and had a plush backing. What the BIKE "original 10" should be is the 7117 which would have been the waistband of the cup strap with standard 7110 pouch in white like the classic jockstrap they sell. Iam sure they would be less expensive due to sharing materials and the BIKE "original 10" would not have a pouch which resembles DUKE.

I was a true kid of the 80's when MTV was music videos, they had V-jays and then in collage they had one show which was Remote Control. Being a jock of the time and wearing jockstraps most of the day I have some background in addition appreciation a jockstraps, along with the Cadillacs and muscle cars I drove.

BIKE jockstrap took up more room in my dresser drawer then the whitie-tighties I had. I have had every BIKE jockstrap from the early 80's though their demies in 2016. While everyone had a 7110 there were other straps! The 7111 (oddity) but loved them, the 7117 University (cup strap with the regular pouch), and the most comfortable cup every made. Along with the 7119... Now available in BLACK.

Yes around 1985 I was in a big box store's music area picking out some new cassettes. Yes pre CDs. just past LPs and an MP3 player did not exist. I made a trip to the sporting goods area and the baseball since spring season was coming up I grabbed some new baseballs. Checked out the batts and gloves. Then I hit the jockstrap area. Grabbed 7 new jocks and then saw one interesting box. It was blue, HUGE, had white gridding and had witting "the most comfortable cup you will ever wear." SHWING.....hard on stared. gabbed a box, ripped it opened and check everything out. BIKE jock with new styling. It was a 3" plush backed strap with black, grey, red strips with a grey cup that had a banana shape. I remember looking around for just cup straps. Found none so after I destroyed the package two more went in the cart. Hell, I was an expert of signing (son) on the CC slips.

My first jockstrap for PE class was the classic BIKE#10 in 1958. Came in box as you opened it the aroma of rubber and elastic filled the air. As it unrolled the waist band had one red stripe for small. As I was alone in by room I got undressed to put on my supporter. Sprang instant hard on but once got my strap on felt a true erotic and sensual pleasure.

I own quite a few Bike jockstraps. I think I bought my first Bike about 20 years ago when the name was still Bike and I was playing rugby at school. I’ve just noticed that they have reverted back to the original branding. I bought another no. 10 jockstrap yesterday from the Bike website and I’m looking forward to seeing how the new styles compare with the classics. It’s not been delivered yet but I will post some photos to show the difference in styles. I hope they live up to their expectation! My classic white no. 10 is still my favourite of all time.

The only Bike jockstrap "Made in the USA" I can find is the Bike #10 Original Jockstrap ( https://www.bikeathletic.com/collections/jockstraps/products/bike-original-10-jockstrap ), in the description of all other jockstrap there is no mention where it's made so probably China indeed.
I’ve just ordered a no. 10, classic and swimmer jock from the Bike website, so I’ll let you know when they arrive. My original bike strap I bought 20 years ago was made in China.

They’re great quality; however, for guys like me on the smaller to micro side of things when it comes to package size there’s a lot of extra fabric that bunches. I’ve found GYM classics are a great alternative with a smaller pouch, but if you’re horse hung then it will be just the right size.

I find it interesting that the current Duke jock shares the exact composition of the Bike#10 in terms of material. Pouch, waistband and leg straps are all the same concerning material.

The pouch is about the same, but the waistband is very different. Every "THE" Duke I have had the very top of the waistband has let go after a few washings, even in a garment bag, while still good you have a fraying at the top of your jockstrap. Wish they still made the "PRO" Duke.

I really liked the Bike 11 University a bit better as you can see by this pic:
