Before don’t ask don’t tell no one thought anything about strutting around a lockerroom in a jock or naked. My BF in HS was on the football team and they’d all jack off together before a game. Guys were boned up all the time or hanging heavy in the showers.

But as gay rights became a National conversation and the catholic priest shit heaped on top and guys got hit with conversations at home, who wanted to do any dick slapping or crack a towel on some dudes ass or god forbid throw some wood in a hand shower.

Don’t get me wrong I’m gay and have been out since grade school. I wrestled and ran track. And I got a shit load of grief. I would never want to go back to a time when I was always aware of what could happen if a guy I was with made any kinda move in public.

But today I’m seeing a change in some straight guys. More playfulness and certainly it’s not an issue with most guys to have gay friends. Hopefully that will mark a return to dudes being dudes in locker rooms and elsewhere.

and a return to dudes wearing jocks everywhere - and sharing jock brotherhood with their gay bros - and seeing gay bros straps above their shorts and straps on their legs - manhood and masculinity showing - and musky smell from our jocks

The last #11 BIKE I found was at a small sports store on State Street in Madison. I was like a kid in a candy store with this rare find. Still have it in pretty good shape. Best jock ever!
I prefer BIKE #10s, but have some BIKE #11s also. Is your BIKE #11 like one of these?

Have some of each of those. The #11's always held up better and lasted longer than the old cotton #10's. I'll have to check my stash, might be a new one in the box yet. The heavy duty one is the 7115 with a real thick waistband that was military issue at one time. It's harder to find but I think Packedstrap had one in his pictures of his collection in the drawer next to the Golberg jocks.

I agree with Bike57 in that the one with one next to my Goldberg jockstraps is that allusive Bike 7115. However, I bough one and it came in a clamshell package with the correct pic of the jockstrap and tagged numbered 7111 so I figured it came before the 7111 I was able to by in the stores. I have a story about permanently borrowing one just like it from a floormate in collage. The one on the left is the 7111/7115 and the one on the right is a true 7111 as I remember.

Here are some pictures of the BIKE #11/7111 and BIKE #11/7114. Also, another jockstrap sold as a BIKE #11. This jockstrap and the second jockstrap were also sold as other style numbers.

Same BIKE jockstrap, different style numbers. Sometimes they would use a different label or a previously used waist band with a different pouch making it a different style number, but sometimes the jockstraps (to me) seem to be the same jockstraps, but in different packaging (pictures 1-5).

Until the newer jocks evolved (90's versions) you used to be able to tell if it was a #11 was by the nylon thread content in in the pouches which you can see in the pictures. Apparently it held up to machine washing for colleges and sports teams better than the mostly cotton #10 we all grew up with. Maybe CoachBob can give us some history on this since he sold BIKE straps for many years. Very nice collection by the way. It's too bad the new BIKE jocks released this year didn't go back to the original pouch material. Maybe those rubber strands covered in thread must be expensive to make.

You are correct that the #7111 was more polyester and the waistband of the new Bike #10 reminds me of the 7111's waist band. The current Bike waist band resembles the #7117 jockstrap waistband or cup supporter waistband of the later 70's/early 80's. The University jock and the cup supporter both shared the same plush backing. Around Mid 80's the cup waistband was changed when Bike began their use of the the banana cup. The waistband was still while but instead had the blue/red/gray stitching stripes. The same plush back waist band was also used on the 7117 jock. The 7111 had the same stitching pattern/colors as the cup/university jock but was the a lighter weight waist band which was more polyester. When jockstraps were issued as part of the team uniform we always received the #7117 University jockstrap. Once and a while I found one in a store but mostly I only know of them being being sold in boxes of 12. There were times we also received the #7110 but that was not very often.

Guys, thanks for some great observations regarding the BIKE jocks. Up until the early 70's, the #10 BIKE jock was consistent with its rubber/cotton contents. Starting in the mid-70's, you would never know what an order might bring. The #11 jock had a more substantial waistband with nylon and polyester providing more strength than the original #10. They transitioned fro, the #59 track/swim jock to an all nylon jock which was miserable to wear. The 80's vintage #7110 had a lot of cotten but lacked the rubber threads of the originals. When Kendall sold the BIKE brand to Colgate the jocks would come on shore from places such as Macau, Mexico, Dominican Republic, China and who knows where else, and the quality continued downhill. The BIKE #10 in a way was a merchandise line and not a specific product. BIKE made a #10 for military which complied with about 3 pages of specifications. There is a photo in ALLKINKS archive showing a USMC BIKE #10. I don't know for sure, but my guess is that the mil-spec required a more substantial waistband, and for obvious reasons a longer pouch than BIKE put on their small retail #10 jocks intended for junior high school boys. I think BIKE57 was on-point with the synthetics added to the jocks to allow school washing. Understand that in the era when the BIKE jocks were standard equipment for school PE classes, most homes did not have clothes dryers and jockstraps were pretty much standard decor on weekend clotheslines

The jockstrap you say is a #10, and I have listed as a #11, is exactly the point I was making. The one you say is a #10 was what was in the box to its left that says it's a #11. That jock was also sold as a #10, #11, and a #7110.

In all my thousands of pictures of BIKE jockstraps, I don't have a record of a #7117. Is that the same jock with the multi-colored waistband I know as a #11 or a University or a #BAS306? Those three have the same multi-colored waist band, but the BAS306 has a different pouch.

Based on your pictures you have a few #7117. Yours have the red, yellow and blue tracer lines. What was a #7117 it was the university jock which had the cup waistband, more plush, with a regular jockstrap pouch. The ones you have were made mostly in alignment with the #10 which was tan with red waistband stripes. Most of the ones I have came along when Bike changed the cup jockstrap and brought in the banana cup. My #7117s have the blue, grey and red stipes. The older ones have the BIKE log in the black boarder. These were mostly around when Bike made the changes to the #7110 and went to the tan with the blue and grey stripes which started out as cotton. Then they made adjustments away from cotton. The last ones made had the white tag shared with the #10 when the 10 was change to white with blue and red stripes. The pouch also was the same at the #10 which was that monster polyester one. When Bike went back to more cotton they killed the #7117 and also the very rare #7111. The #7111 looked more like the #7117 in the waistband but did not have the blush backing of the cup jockstraps. The #7117 construction was much like the "PRO DUKE" which has also been discontinued.

Back in the late 80's and well into the 90's I used to love going to the local sporting goods store and buying my 7 new jockstraps for the fall season of playing sports. The again in spring since I needed new ones. Kind of like buying your books. They were always BIKE since that is what we had in the area. I would toss them on the counter, start opening the boxes and later on clam shells to check the sizes. It was always a male at the counter and he would join in on the verification of sizing. Sure there were T-Shirts, short and sweats as well but I love it that it was no big deal I was buying 7 jockstraps. After HS and Collage I would still go strap shopping since mine got abused. SportsMart which became Sports Authority had a huge wall of BIKE jockstraps, cups and everything they made related to jock support/protection. Recently I went into a sporting goods store and all they had were cups or cup supporters. I just ask do any stores in your area still sell a traditional jockstrap?
Unfortunately no, rarely see jockstrap in stores, used to get at Wal-Mart or K mart

Bike sold school packs which was a box of 12 jockstraps. I bought two of them off of ebay. The first one came in the original box with my name and address on it. We had smaller mail boxes at the time with a bulk bin for larger items and the box said BIKE one dozen athletic supporters large #7110. I am sure they were marked that way since schools/sporting good stores bought several boxes that way and could stock them by size. I was not upset that everyone who checked mail that day knew I bought 12 large Bike jockstraps. More pissed he wrote on the original box. I kept them in the original packaging for years until they started to yellow. I took them all out an washed them. The other one I bought was a more vintage bike package of 12 which were the University #7117 (a cup waist band with a regular jockstrap pouch) and that guy sent it to me in an outer box. Yes I opened it and have 6 of them in my draw. But I still like looking at the box with the small take indicating style and size. Funniest time was I ordered more than $100 Dollars worth of jockstraps form a site. I had a note from USPS tapped to my door that I needed to sign for them. The next day, Saturday I watched for the post man. I signed for them as he held onto my box of jockstrap. Now the ultimately funny story not just strap related is when I ordered new lug nuts for my car since the service station putting my on tires destroyed the suckers. UPS man, who was hot, show up and I greeted him at my door. I looked at him and said Oh I see you have my nuts in your hands. He had a look of terror on his face while turning red. I just laughed and said.....LUG NUTS.....He busted out laughing. But he could have held my nuts and I would have held his.
Hey packed, I forgot to mention this before, you can soak your stuff in a weak solution of a sulfite, in warm water, once in a while. (rinse em out good and let air dry good after) it will especially maintain condition of the rubber

When I was in Junior High School I bought my Bike jockstraps at the local pharmacy. I was already aware that jockstraps were fetish material for me. (I’d go to buy a new jock and have an election at the checkout counter). Shortly there after I discovered a mail order catalog called International Male (remember?), and I bought my first sock-type fashion jock (pouch with no leg straps). That was in the late 70s. I wore it to High School under my regular clothes. It made me so horny.

Being a kid of the 80's jockstraps were sold everywhere. Sporting goods stores, department stores, drug stores, and even some hardware stores. Went into one of the off the mall store to buy two jockstraps. I wanted med since that fit my waist according to size. They only had one but the sales dude offered to have one sent over from another store if wanted to come back. I just said no I am good but he was really ready to have one sent over. I do remember International Male and it really freaked me out when I got home from collage one day to find the catalog on my bed. I can still picture it. I looked at it and it was addressed to my dad. All I thought was WHAT THE F..... Some of the items looked cool but I really remember seeing the underwear section where they had "THE SOCK" a jockstrap without leg straps. I do have some and they support well but I do not think they are made for a workout. I have had jockstrap failure with regular jockstraps and I could see that thing rolling up like a window shade.
