Suspensory

Hi Ray. Sorry but can you explain me the difference between a suspensory and a jockstrap. I thought it was the same.
A suspensory usually does not have leg straps and elevates the scrotum more than a jockstrap.

Thanks for answering. Si it’s to lift your rod to enhance your manhood. Am I right ?
Do you wear some ?

A suspensory was originally designed as a medical device generally used after an operation on the scrotum. You could get them in a jock or simpler suspended pouch version.

The only true medical one we used to carry was from Flarico but they went out of business in 2016. Their suspensory jock was always a very popular item - but I'm sure most guys weren't buying for medical reasons. Now, the only suspensory we carry is the GBGB Balzy Suspensory Jockstrap and GBGB Balz Suspensory Pouch - either a pouch and jockstrap version - and are more about kinky fashion than wearing for medical reasons.

Here's some photos of our model Fred in the Flarico Bub Adjustable Suspensory Jockstrap we used to carry:

When I was 8, I had a bicycle accident resulting in a hernia. It was in August. The doc scheduled me for surgery over the Christmas holidays. From August to mid-January, I wore a medical suspensory under my underwear to support my usually swollen left ball . With the prospect of surgery looming, I don't recall being especially enamored of the device.

THE TRUTH: Suspensories were made for normal healthy men. There is nothing that can hold up your nuts better or keep you more comfortable. They were NOT originally created as a medical device for a man who has a had surgery or is injured. Although a man with a problem would certainly want one.

The first jockstraps were suspensories, before BIKE made the first real jockstrap in 1874. General George Armstrong Custer wore an Army issue suspensory in the Battle of Little Big Horn in 1873. It is in a museum in Montana and you can find a photo of it on line. His was size Small, the pouch size for snug support. The waist band and leg straps were adjustable.

Suspensory supporters preceded jockstraps as we know them today. They were very popular in the era when 90% of men worked on farms or in the outdoors. They were advertised in family clothing catalogues.

After jockstraps were invented, there are stories from the early 1900's of indoor businessmen who wore suspensories all day long for ball comfort, and put on standard jockstraps when going to the gym or doing work out of doors.

During WW2 suspensory supporters were issued to paratroopers and other soldiers, or anyone who wanted them. I bought a pack from Army surplus recently. They are not the greatest brand, so I rarely wear them. I have many more than I will ever use, but that was the only way to buy them.

When I was a boy and a young man the drug stores all sold several kinds of suspensories past the 1970's. It stands to reason that there were many more times and places where suspensory supporters were issued and were common place. But those stories have disappeared into history.

I remember seeing men at the gym wearing them in the 1950's and 1960's. There continue to be some men who preferred them for comfort. Suspensory supporters fell out of popular wear after full jockstraps were created, and more supportive underwear in the 1940's, and men had less strenuous outdoor jobs. After these changes the market for suspensories became more focused on being for guys with injuries or special problems. But they were made for all of us.

Having been a cowboy and a wrangler myself, I can tell you that there is no better way to keep from sitting and bouncing on your balls than an adjustable suspensory. Going on a 50 mile trail ride in the rugged mountains is a lot of bouncing. Landing on your balls with the full weight of your body 5,000 times a day can be pure hell. I was never shy about taking care of my nuts and even modifying my jockstraps when needed.

Some rural people were "backwards". Some poor guys felt embarrassed to talk about it. They thought that strong men don't have trouble down there. I know several cowboys who have lost one of their balls. And if you only have one ball left, that is all the more reason to take wear a jock and care of it. Protect it with your life!

One local guy lost both of his balls as a young teenager. His problem came lifting and stacking bales of hay all day long without any ball support. He was afraid to tell his dad that his balls were swelling and aching until it was too late. The doctor had to remove them. His voice got high pitched and he lost his body hair. You weren't sure if he was male nor female. It was sad. I don't know why he didn't ask for testosterone shots; maybe some people are shy about that too. Some people are too shy or too backwards to admit they need help, or that their balls need support. So, he won't be producing any children. This is not nice to say, but it get's the stupid people out of the gene pool.

GREAT LIFT!

The suspensory pouch is tailored to cup behind your balls and hold them forward. Decades ago several brands of jockstraps were also made so that the bottom of the pouch cups your balls and holds them forward. We considered that the purpose of a good fitting jock.

Most of the athletic jocks today have a pouch that goes back to your rectum and you can still sit on your balls. Our civilization has lost the concept of keeping your balls from sliding back to your ass. Try sitting on a horse all day and you'll begin figuring out the difference of ball location.

When I was in the military during the Vietnam era, I often wore a suspensory under a regular jockstrap, for everyday wear. While jockstraps were common, I was the only one who wore both. I have standard size equipment, so I have no special needs.

The reason for a suspensory under a jock is because the suspensory will hold your balls up and forward. Your cock cannot push them backwards nor down. Also, this arrangement, or "ball organizer" made it very easy to hold my cock up against my belly. I was in comfort heaven! Guys would watch me getting dressed in the gym to study how I was positioning my balls and cock for the day. I think all of them would have liked to try it.

Once I took a new suspensory out of the package in the locker room. I had to adjust the buckles on the waist band and leg straps. It took more than a few minutes. With my buddies watching and making comments I started getting an erection. They cheered me on! I was happy to get it buckled up and get the tight pouch of my jockstrap on over my hardon.

A GOOD FIT

To answer the original question, "No. I rarely wear a suspensory. I just wear jockstraps." If I could find a great suspensory I would wear it every day and even to bed. But the great old models are all gone and I cannot find one that I like.

For me it needs to have a snug pouch that has a tight hole for your dick to hang out. The pouch shapes your scrotum exactly, like the ones in the lower two photos above. Not the first photo.

If there is a large opening at the top, for a working man, your balls will pop out too. Many suspensories still on sale today are made for men who had surgery and will not be very active for a while. Today's suspensories are not made for men doing vigorous outdoor work.

I prefer suspensories with leg straps: This allows you to hold your balls high without the pouch coming off your balls and shifting upward to your belly (without taking your balls with it.) You can literally wear your balls as high on your belly as your scrotum will allow, with the leg straps to keep it anchored from the bottom. I have seen some guys (not me) wear their balls half-way to their belly buttons.

Also you do not want the pouch to be so tight on the sides (in the crack at the top of your legs) that it cuts-off the circulation to your spermatic chords. that can be a problem. You trade off supporting your nuts for making the chords swell. You need to understand what a good fit is.

20 years ago I found a suspensory advertised on-line. I drove to a big city where a drug store carried them. The company required that a trained employee watch you put it on and make sure it is a good fit, and make sure it is not too tight against the spermatic chords on the sides. That was an interesting, slightly uncomfortable experience. I'm sure the guy had no idea what details to look for! But it was part of the job.

CIRCUMCISION

Another reason for the disappearance of suspensory supporters (called "ball lifters") is that after WW2 circumcision became institutionalized and sometimes mandatory. Before that it didn't matter if your penis hung loose in your pants and rubbed around. With circumcision our penis heads are uncovered and are sensitive. Most circumcised men would not want them rubbing around. So, suspensories lost popularity with circumcised men.

Before that when men had foreskins they could be comfortable having their balls supported in a suspensory, and their dicks could hang down and flop around in their pants and their foreskins would shield their glans from rubbing.

Having an exposed glans rubbing around would cause them to lose their sexual sensitivity. Although many men today, raised as boys wearing boxer shorts, have not figured out that they have lost a lot of their erogenous potential.

I am circumcised so I enjoyed wearing a regular wide waistband jockstrap that keeps my glans comfy and protected all day. My dickhead (glans) is so sensitive from always wearing a jockstrap and being protected that it is as erogenous as a guy with a foreskin. It would be very distracting and uncomfortable for me to walk a short distance without a jockstrap on. I like it that way.

SIZE

I have a friend who had huge low-hangers. He was proud of them and how low they hung in his pants. To make a long story short, they kept hanging lower, they were unable to pump the oxygen-depleted blood back up into his body and they eventually swelled and died. He lost both of them. I do not want to make rules for overly endowed men, but if I had a son with large low-hangers, I would train him to wear suspensories, especially if working on a farm.

Men with all sizes of balls, in all cultures, have sought support since time began. It's common sense comfort. Also, many men have spermatic chords that swell during time of exertion, and this happens more often with age. 14% of men genetically have spermatic chords that tend to engorge with a lot of lifting if not supported. It has nothing to do with ball size. The guy with the smallest balls can get "blue balls", swollen chords. This happened to one guy on our work crew last year. He said his scrotum looked like it was filled with a bowl of spaghetti. He couldn't work for a month. When I heard I made him go to a doctor.

We're all different. Don't let anybody make rules for you.

I was watching an at-length video of aboriginal men in New Guinea. They tie their dicks up to their belts so they do not flop around. They let their balls hang. I was amazed at the huge packed scrotums these men had. Then I noticed that they were the older men. Later in the video they showed the young warriors of the same gene pool. They had small tight nuts. No big ones. What happened is that with decades of not having support the older men's spermatic chords engorge. Having permanent "blue balls" cannot feel good. Their actually testicle size did not change.

Most of my friends are working men with physical jobs. I cannot believe how many of them get swollen nuts from time to time and are embarrassed about it as if it's something unique. Our urbanized (and feminized) modern culture has lost the tradition of teaching ball support to each other and to the next generations.

I take a strong stand against the uninformed myth that any kind of ball support is primarily for men with a problem. Ball support is more for prevention of problems, and even more just for comfort and common sense.

Although support is critical after surgery, supporters were made for all men, particularly active men, but for any man who wants to keep his balls comfortable. The only reason you need to wear any kind of supporter is because you have balls. Don't ever allow another guy to question what you wear.

THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS WHAT YOUR BALLS NEED IS YOU.

I'm sorry that suspensory supporters are not seen in men's changing rooms any more. I am more sorry that the great versions are not being made any longer. If you know where to get a good one, let me know. I'll probably never take it off.

PS Try fucking a woman with a suspensory on, so that your balls are always bumping into her! You'll start to cum quick!

The photo is of me sitting in my truck looking down with my limp cock hanging down out of my suspensory. My balls are happy!

I love wearing them with a cock ring!

Cock rings do a wonderful job of keeping my nuts up front where I want them, and not sliding back between my legs. I wish I could wear one all the time. But I cannot wear one as a working man. It is unsafe to have something stiff and binding on my spermatic chords.
I have an office job, so it is easier for me. I wear a little bigger ring for my all day rings!

Do any of you guys wear a suspensory on a regular basis? Do you like it? Advantage over a jockstrap?
I have a few dozen suspensories (mostly SPORT-AID). I would usually buy more after they started pilling. I buy the XLargre ones (they are measured by pouch size) as I can put my cock and balls in the pouch and get a nice, uplifted bulge in my 501 jeans. Add a cock ring to the mix and you get an even better presentation. Also, I can reach into my jeans pocket and flip my cock out of the pouch for a different look and feel and I always buy the ones without leg straps. Don't want to wear it anymore? Just unsnap it and it can be removed without taking off your jeans for free-balling. I wore these for a few years and then switched to 2(X)ist white briefs or a jockstrap. I still wear one once in a while in the summer as they are not as hot under shorts as is underwear.

Strapped Wrangler
In your story above about buckling the new suspensory in the locker room, did you place your erection in a up-position inside a jockstrap that you wore OVER the suspensory? Thanks, Tom, new member.

Jockstrap Fan
I always wear my cock in the up-position whether it is hard or soft. (I only have it pointed down in my icon photo because that is the look that many guys like.) When I wear a jockstrap if my dick slides down it pushed my balls back and is altogether too tight on my balls.

The purpose of a jockstrap for me is to hold my balls foreword and to keep my cock up. My cock does not stay up forever, so I have to adjust it periodically. Up-and-to the side is OK. Just not down. A suspensory under a jockstrap helps greatly with this ball organization.

If anyone asks me why I wear a jock or jocks, I tell them:
"This is what my balls like. ❤ You'll have to ask them about it!"
