As a new member here, in London, I wonder how many other British men are on the site?

I read somewhere the wearing a jockstrap was compulsory for PE (Phys Ed) in the States - is this still the case?. I also wonder how many British schools had a similar policy? - I went to an ordinary Comprehensive school in London and our P.E. master was very keen on older boys wearing a jock, first for rugby and then later for ordinary gym work. It was when I was about 12 (we start Comprehensive school at 11 over here), I discovered my sexuality. Being a run down school our changing room was divided in two - one for the incoming class to get stripped off for the lesson and on the other side (no room divider, except a series of benches) for the class who had just finished their lesson to get showered and changed. When I was 12 our Monday afternoon class was lesson 2, and the lesson before were the older lads 16/17 getting changed after their session, and looking over (trying not to look as if I were looking) I saw all those lads getting their shorts off, and most of them were wearing jockstraps. One or two looked fairly excited and from that day on I have had this "thing" for guys wearing jockstraps. It’s not required here in the states anymore and hasn’t been for quite a bit. I started having to do gym class at 12, which here is junior high school, or middle school (7th grade). So dumb. But anyways I was given elective courses and couldn’t be switched and so I was forced to take the summer school PE classes to get the required credits from those courses. But what I realized was that I could do it for 5 weeks, and then not have to do it at all during the school year. And still get some off time for the next three weeks before school started back up. I ended up doing it two summers in a row to get my requirements out of the way, and not have to deal with the dreaded locker rooms all year long and the brutal bullying I would have had to deal with in PE.
Even still during summer school PE classes we weren’t required to wear any sort of supportive underwear. But we also were not playing major contact sports during those classes. And we had to show up in the morning already in PE clothes so there was no changing at all. I loved that aspect of it as well.

UK here too. 1st Form secondary school PE was last thing on Friday. As we went in the sixth formers were getting changed after their session. No-one wore a jock back then, but I also sneaked a few looks at the equipment on view. Changing rooms are so sexy - well at least they are to me!

I feel the same way - it's a pity they have gone unisex these days with everyone having their own little compartment

I try to get to to my local leisure centre fitness suite ~(gym) most days. The dry changing is male/female with 4 shower cubicles. Not many people around when I go at the moment, I guess it's still the COVID effect. Pre-covid I could often get changed or have a shower when younger lads were around but they are so shy these days. They wrap up with towels and shower in their underwear. On the wet side - the pool - it is unisex changing. Everyone in their own cubicle.

I don’t understand the showering in underwear thing, that’s just crazy! Where have we gone wrong in not training our young men to be proud of who they are?

Not like it was when I was at school - I can still remember one lad in the changing rooms, legs wide apart proudly showing off his erection and making his cock bob up and down. The only upside is that I have sometimes found wet underwear left in the changing room which I took away with me.......

the reward of going to the gym/swimming pool is the exhibitionism in the showers and changing room.

Grew up in the UK in 70s/80s - unfortunately at my school it was only the rugby team that wore jocks - for PE we were just underwear under short shorts. But showering was compulsory - so at least I got to see my friends naked. I was mainly into older guys then so much preferred trips to the local leisure centre and pool. I would wank off on those images stored in my head between visits.

Despite not seeing enough jockstraps at school I still became obsessed with them (and other sports/gym gear) at university and love all sorts of underwear/jocks and kit/gear.

Jockstraps largely been replaced in UK firstly by compression shorts from about 20 years ago and in past 5 years or so "Budgie Smugglers" which are an Australian brand of speedos .
Very rare to see a jockstrap in UK these days in rugby except maybe in some an amateur games, but even then very rare.
Cricketers in UK still use a jockstrap but even that has been usurped by "Box-Briefs" which are kind of underwear similar to standard briefs but with a pouch for a protective "box" (cup). I would say cricket is about 50/ 50 jock and box briefs at present.
